Paul Dolan - Candidate for Prosecutor
#31
Rick, in the essay you referred to about Susan, I was writing about events in the prosecutor's office over two decades ago. I have no particular knowledge as to whether the same sort of culture persists today. I do, however, know the facts and figures about who gave campaign contributions, and I was reporting those facts.

I'd love to talk with you about the Carrie Walters case. Ms. Walters has already given me her side of the case, and, believe it or not, I really prefer to tell the public all sides of a story. As you probably know, the Prosecutor's Office declined comment on the case when I inquired about it--so I was quite surprised, when researching the case on the Web, to discover your comments here. If you choose not to talk to me, I'll have to rely on what you've already written in public forums such as this one.

The information that I provided concerning Mr. Dolan is available at the California Bar website, the Hawaii State Judiciary Website and 2 Minnesota Supreme Court decisions, in 1989 and 1992 that you can find by googling: FINDACASE and Paul R. Dolan.

As for Ms. Walters, she took a knife to a verbal argument and stabbed her ex-husband almost killing him. Her conduct was not legally excusable and she is for now a convicted felon. What she says on her website is defamatory but since the holding in New York Times v. Sullivan, I am a public figure and for all practicable purposes subject to poison arrows without relief in the courts unless and until she makes a mistake and publishes that garbage in a jurisdiction that still takes defamation seriously such as the United Kingdom or Italy. If you want to know the truth, make an appointment and come see ALL of the discovery and not just her edited take on it. Or, you can purchase it from the police department.

Thank you for the referral to the betting on ashida article by Alan McNarie. I am a county attorney working in the prosecutor's office. I am not supporting Lincoln. Not all county attorneys are supporting Lincoln. But more importantly, Mr. McNarie, as a journalist, should have alerted his readers to a possible bias on his part. You can go to his blog and see what I mean: http://alanmcnarie.blogspot.com/2010/03/...-2010.html or just type in google: Susan Decker McNarie. She is Alan's ex-wife and following her death in 2010 he wrote about her life and experience in the prosecutor's office. I met Susan Decker McNarie the first day she came to work in our office. We both have Missouri connections and she shared many of the frustrations that she had working in our office. She was a tireless advocate for victims. Many of her frustrations were legitimate. Some were caused by difficulty in dealing with a multicultural environment. Of this much I am sure, if Susan was alive and I showed her the materials that I have directed you to, she would not be supporting Mr. Dolan.

There are three candidates in this race. my choice is Mr. Roth. Whoever you choose, make sure you do it with the blinders off and examine the facts and not just the message. If you do, you will not vote for Mr. Dolan, the "Johnny Coackrin of Kona" and My apologies for all of Hawaii to the family of the late Johnnie L.Cochran,Jr.
