don't stop in the circle to let cars in!!!
Maybe the highway department should take down the signs on Maku'u Drive installed during the lava emergency which say:
_____
Drive
With
Aloha
_____
And revise them for the roundabout:
_______
Drive
Without
Aloha
_______

Good idea HOTPE.
Rocketman, I had a similar glitch this morning too. The car in front of me stopped instead of merging onto the circle even though nobody was coming.
It's going to take us a while to get used to this new arrangement.
At least there was very little traffic at 8:30 am.

How about a sign that says... Drive like you are in California.

They probably do need a sign that says "Do not stop within the circle".
They think they are being courteous but really the best way to be courteous is to obey the "rules of the road".

People need to be reminded that there is a stop sign entering Malama. I stopped there yesterday and the guy riding with me asked what I was stopping for. I told him the sign, he said what sign? Coming out I started to cross the intersection to the roundabout and a lady ran the stop sign and almost creamed us. I think the problem is it's on the right side of the road.

Isn't a stop sign always on the right side of the road?

Here is a link showing all three phases of the roundabout, with directional arrows, signage, and placement of stop signs etc. We're now on Phase B:

Regarding the stop sign, this one should be straight ahead, since nobody seems to look to the right, too busy turning.

Do we really need 4 Pahoa marketplace signs? I dunno, I'm not getting how to exit Malama market, do they want you to take a right to go to hilo? Signs seem confusing. The only way to get out of malama is to merge onto the 130 and go all the way around the roundabout back towards hilo. That is one screwed up design. Maybe they will hope after your done shopping at malama you'll want to shop at longs or eat at bk... then you can turn around and come back down the other way... Other wise have fun merging into 130. After it get's backed up, all the people wanting to get home are just gonna rush it and not let anyone out of malama market (the second stop sign). Poor planning again... 130 highway, stop let someone merge in, then merge again on the roundabout but don't stop and let them in this time!
JOY!
