Nice black sand beach in front of it too. My first thought is it should be named Kapoho Island since it replaces Kapoho Bay, however Hawai’i is now naming everything after Daniel K. Inouye so it will be the island of Daniel K. Inouye.

We really should name it Obie Island.

I suspect if this eruption continues it will become a point or peninsula.

Isle de Ocho, named after its parent, Pu'u Ocho.
Certainty will be the death of us.

How big does it have to be to be named an island?

There are a few other spots on our Big island where rocks poke up just off shore. Near Richardsons beach for example. I'm pretty sure they aren't considered islands.

I don't think it will be an island for long. Maybe a few weeks or so, before the flow front catches up to it.

Rumor has it that there is an organic 10' steel electrical conduit pipe in the center of the island flying a hemp Island Naturals flag. I think that means it's been claimed as part of Rudderman's district? Part of Natchville?
