Star compliant drivers license
#11
In my case I didn't have 2 documents with my address. My address on my driver's license was under 80 feet of lava and my new address I had received no mail.
Found out the documents I presented wouldn't work after standing in line for 2 hours.
I ended up going to the registration location and changing the address on my vehicle and we went to our local credit union and changed our address and got a printed copy of our statement that showed the new address.
2 more hours in line on a hot day. They only let a few inside at a time.

I recently renewed my soon to expire license in Pahoa and got the star put on there. My passport, Social Security card, and cable bill did the trick. (Utility bills have to be less than two months old, btw, and I was told they also accept county real estate tax documents.) Like many, I do not get mail at my physical address and had gone paperless, but I simply printed the page of the cable bill that showed my physical address, and they took it. Whole process took 25 minutes, more than 20 of which was waiting in line.

Good lord ..I'll use my passport for travel. I'm not going to give them any more of my time or money until my current license needs renewing.

Still need a DL to buy beer, though, because the staff at 7-11 have apparently never seen a passport card before.

I doubt they verify the bills, and you could probably print up anything. I had to doctor a cell phone bill from my PO Box to my physical address for a brokerage that couldn't comprehend addresses without USPS service.

The older Social Security cards specifically stated "Not to be used for identification" on the card. When I tried to use my older card to renew my license, the DMV refused to accept it and forced me to go get a replacement card from SS. Same name, same number, just didn't have the phrase on it. Complete idiots.

"Complete idiots."

Depends on where you go and which employee you get. My Social Security card says "Not to be used for idendification," and they took it without question. I was prepared for possible problems with that, and had a 1099 from 2019 with my full SSN on it that I ended up not needing. I had heard from several friends that there were two reasons to get this done in Pahoa. First, the lines are shorter. Second, the workers generally try to find ways to make things work whereas the ones in Hilo try to find ways to reject people. I found Pahoa to be a breeze. As always, YMMV.

"I found Pahoa to be a breeze."

When I got my secure ID without the star it was in Pahoa and it was very quick and easy.

The ordeal was in Hilo. I had already provided all the info to be compliant and was trying to get one issued with the star.
My address had changed because of the lava flow.

They give everyone a hassle about street addresses except the hobos. I guess ‘hope services’ gives them a paper saying they live there. Which is fraud
