Rust and fridges
#11
How close to the ocean are you? I heard people who are right next to the ocean have to get new TVs every couple years

My place is scary close to the ocean. My kitchen cabinets are rimmed in stainless steel. There is some rust on the stainless steel. None on the fridge yet, though. Light fixtures rust out pretty quickly.

I'm a little rusty, too, but with a little silicone spray.......

Glen,
I don't know what's available in Puna, but you can try a product called Boeshield B9 - it's highly recommended in Florida near the coast to slow rust down. I bet the Woodcraft in O'ahu might have it. Might be worth a shot.

I just purchased some Boeshield from Sears (Hilo)this past week. it was a two part kit that also came with a rust remover.

Mahalo to everybody who replied. Carwax makes sense the more I think about it! In the interest of science I'm thinking of only waxing half the fridge to see if it makes a difference :-)

frossie,
I hear that the top of the frig suffers the worst. Why not conduct your 1/2 experiment on the top. That way if the wax works only one half of the top will be rusty...
