That's a really good point about Ikaika. I would also assume his silence implies his resistance to the vaccine but I'd be very interested in finding out if anyone knows anything. But I'd bet we'd at least be well on the way to a road and a boat ramp.
Certainty will be the death of us.

County jobs are some of the most stable, high-paying jobs on the island. I would venture a guess that there are TONS of vaccinated people who would happily take the place of people who'd rather quit their jobs than get vaccinated. I don't see what leverage the anti-vaxxers have here. They can make all the noise they want, but 1) they're in the minority, and 2) they're on the wrong side of a public health crisis. The military has already mandated everyone get vaccinated, so it's not like this would be breaking new ground. Give the mandate, deal with the fallout, and get the spread of the virus under control. If it gets under control, everyone - everyone - will be happy about it.

Justin, Mitch Roth does not have the courage to stand up to the county employees in any way, form, or fashion. He depends on them for votes, of course, but I think it goes beyond that to a character issue in which he isn't willing to take the heat for making difficult decisions. When I confronted him about his lackluster performance as prosecutor, all he would do was smile, obfuscate, and use cutesy Hawaiian expressions. He never really bothered to vigorously defend his record. I used to think he would make a better social worker than any of the political roles he has assumed, but social workers are actually known to stand up and defend their values. Like most Hawaii politicians, he's basically useless.

Speaking of Hawaii County politicians - Stacy Higa just plead guilty to embezzlement...
Using the military as a vaccination example is basically apples to oranges.
Requirements for military personnel have no correlation to the general citizenry whether they be privately or publicly employed.

I thought in Hawaii county all you needed to do is say your sorry and maybe pay most of the money back?

Dependable votes. County workers get the day off on election day.
