Stabbing with Hawaiian dagger
#11
Just to make things clear, it is not known what weapon the suspect used in the later stabbing incident only that one was used. The dagger looked more like a slicing weapon and not a stabbing one.

There was no one in charge of security. There was no reason, prior to the Kea'au hearing, to think that security would be needed. We have since had a hearing at the W. HI. Civic Center and are scheduled for one tonight in Yano Hall, S. Kona, followed by a meeting in Hilo on Friday. No security.

Glendon was not a threat or threatening at the Kea'au hearing. What he did was inappropriate, but it was ceremonial (he began his testimony by reciting his geneology). What happened later, I understand, was triggered by an argument with an individual. He was not angry in Kea'au.

I guess you missed my points. Someone should always be in charge of security. Even if they aren't official security or LEO. Someone should at least have the duty of being aware of the security situation and knowing when to call for assistance. Again, you were lucky.

This same individual (I had to check with some other attendees to be sure, hence the late post) disrupted the September HPPOA Board meeting. He repeatedly grabbed the microphone out of turn, made inappropriate, vaguely threatening remarks, and finally left only to return with a child whom he forced to speak in Hawaiian and who burst into tears under the pressure. The board president has been criticized for allowing this to go on and on, but he chose to humor the guy rather than confront him.

Meetings like these generally don't need security, but sometimes we wish there was some. The only option is to call the police and hope they get there in time to do some good. Things got so heated at HPP for a while under the previous board and management that they did actually have private security guys at some of the meetings.
