Any propane rationing?

That HTH - always on top of things with information:

"That hasn't prevented rumors from circulating about widespread propane shortages on all islands."

Rumors? No gas so no BBQ this week. It may be a little more than a rumor. Most suppliers in Puna out of gas now.

Today I read about the IRS processing delay for those who itemize their tax returns in the Trib but that was national news well over a week ago. I think I might have understood this delay 20 years ago, but these days? Anyway, does anyone have any information about where propane is available even if it's rationed? I usually collect mine from the place on Old Volcano Road in Keaau or the place by the recycling center on W Puainako St in Hilo. I've been a bit busy plus I was away when the propane shortage started so wasn't aware there was a problem until recently.

Yesterday, My husband & I had to go clear to Kau....Ocean View for propane. We totally ran out [V]. South Point U-Cart had a little. They were only selling 2 or 3 gallons per customer, but when they found out we had driven all the way from Puna, they let us have 4 gallons. Pretty nice of them.

They told us that the tanker is here in Hilo, & that they had to order it from either Korea or Japan....can't remember exactly, & that they should be supplying the providers over the weekend. So, there should (hopefully) be supplies again by Monday.

That's good news Dee. I'll be nice to get my tanks filled so I can get them out of the truck!!

Will be interesting to see how high the price goes, it's already robbery.

Hey, Tedd On Bass, I live in Glenwood and use the Hirano store too. I have hundred pound tanks (25 gallon) so getting one filled will be a big deal I think. Yikes. Keep us updated so I can haul a tank down when they are filling. Thank youl

Pahoa Propane told me today that they are down to 20% of their normal available amount, that they don't ration but just keep filling on a first come first serve basis, and that after they run out they will not get a new delivery until Friday.
