quote:Thanks for the update, Royall. Indeed, to be a fly on the wall. The 5:00pm news (HawaiiNewsNow) just reported that Kawauchi could sue to stop the State from taking over, which would further delay the State's preparation for the general election. Geeze, sure hope she doesn't even consider that option.

She could sue.
As in filing for an injunction. Now she alone is probably dumb enough to do so, however I would think she would have to get the green light from the Council and Corporation Counsel. At this point in the game, I doubt that would happen. But, then again…….. However, I think the State has more than enough overwhelming evidence to prove beyond any reasonable doubt that there is no nor can there be any confidence in this Clerks abilities, as she has clearly demonstrated throughout this entire debacle. At this point, I would suggest she simply just resign. That is quite frankly the best decision she could make for all concerned, especially the tax payer, as well as considering she will not be reappointed in December.

Would there not have to be a basis for a suit? She can't possibly have any foundation to stand on at this point! Case dismissed. For crying out loud, if the "vagaries of the law" start to unfold and allow this to even be questioned would really be a travesty.
What possible grounds would she have? This better be the beginning of the end to this whole mess. Royall, thank you for the insight. OMG, you're right, she probably would have called the cops. It's truly amazing. All of it. Are we on the road to recovering confidence in the handling of the general? Will the State and Ethics Commission put an end to this finally? What role does the Council play at this point, if any? Is there a time frame for her to file a suit? So many ways this could go. Watching the entire primary unfold, combined with the AG's office being brought in, the alleged fraud charges, etc., it does make one wonder, WTH is next? Ken, totally agree with you. Just concerned she and Yagong will not go out without kicking and screaming! The arrogance is incredible. jmo. Thanks for any input on the questions above. Is there a lawyer in the house??? (j/k)

Funny, Ken: since when has it *ever* been about what's best for the taxpayer?
