May have released DEA from their duties, but the IRS still has the right to "tax" unreported income based on the number of plants allowed to a card carrier times "estimated value" of each plant if one could grow. Most "bust" charges are beat, but the tax evasion of income made by their estimate usually seems to stick. That is why banks are reluctant to take "bush money".
