A bill to raise the speed limit on Saddle Road

Many people here drive just as fast at night and in fog and rain over the speed limit as they do with clear weather. The saddle often has fog and drizzle. There are expressways in Amerika where there are two speed limits. 65 day time, 55 nigh time. Made sense to me.

Yes, that does make sense. Of course, many folks on the mainland drive too fast in sub par conditions too. What can you say? People like to haul Ash, safety and MPG considerations be damned.

Correct: the legislation caught HDOT totally by surprise, there's no way they could have known about this in advance...

Because a few dozen standard signs are so tough to install... They could have had a "speedy printer" do some large "60" stickers and just pasted them over the "55" until they had proper metal ones. Or one of the anti-PGV people could have just spray painted 60 over the 55...

Funny how when there's an alleged construction zone with a few cones and no workers those signs get put up right away, just a few minutes before the radar is set up.

Just got back from Hapuna... most of the speed limit signs on the Saddle Road say "60 MPH" now.
