Cat's Eye😒
#11
Thanks for all of the advice "guys"; We were going to take her to the Vet on Friday, but the one in HPP was closed on Friday & the one in Keaau solidly booked (till June!), so I decided to put a little crushed garlic in her food for the last few days, & she does seem a little better (opening her eye half way). I just read online that you can gently clean the eye w/warm water & a cosmetic puff & then apply neosporin (very tiny amt.) w/a q-tip across the lid of the eye 3 times a day; so, I may try that today (now, I'm sick & have no car today - husband using today - but ...if this persists, we'll get her in to vet soon!). Thanks again for all of your concern!

Noesporin will help with bacterial eye infection.

Also an old time remedy for eyes is Boric Acid. To one cup of boiled water add one tsp. Boric Acid and let dissolve and cool. Then you can use a soft cloth to gently wash the eye. It is soothing and helps and doesn't hurt humans or animals eyes. We use it on the whole family (pets and people) for relief and sometimes cure for light infections. ( at least til you can get to the Vet. )

Most drugstores carry Boric Acid and the Pharmacy across the street from Downtoin Police Station will order you some if they don't have it in stock. They will also order Flowers of Sulphur which is good for infections or wounds of all sorts. (Mixed with bag balm or just about any healing oil, even Vaseline.)
We keep both on hand for emergencies.

Hope you continue to see improvement. Sending Aloha to you and your pets.

First time my cat got stung by LFA's in the eye His eye was shut for about 3-4 days. Subsequent stings his eyes were open the next day. Now his eyes are so milky but he can still see. Poor buggah.
One Thing I can always be sure of is that things will never go as expected.

descodave - thank for the update! All I'll add is if you do need to find a vet then Aloha Vet accepts walk-ins. The cat and you may not be seen immediately but you will be seen. I would also be surprised if other vet offices would not accept walk-ins. Just expect a wait.

Good luck to you and the kitty!
