foot valve in catchment tank
#1
If you have a check valve on the intake pipe next to the pump motor, should you also have a foot valve on the end of the pipe in the catchment tank? or is it not necessary?

I've got both.... necessary... I don't know. You might think of it as a back up! Wink

Sure, every time the pump cycles you save a couple pennies of power, not sucking air.

Check valves are a good thing.

A foot valve is a check valve and screen that is generally used when the pump is at a higher elevation than the intake point to stop a vacuum from building between the intake and the pump when the pump is not running. It will also prevent larger debris from entering the system.

It makes sense to have both. I'm putting in the foot valve with screen. Mahalo for Kokua
