Yes, it was actually below normal. I believe this is based on Hilo (airport?) and it gives those readings even if you select Pahoa. May was actually even wetter than June, which seems right because there was pretty heavy rain at the beginning of the month. the last time Hilo had a month that was not below normal was Dec 09! It is going to seem so rainy once we ever have consistent months of even normal rainfall.

Just added up the month total for June, and it was 11.62". May was 10.02", which is higher than other years since 2004, with the exception of May 2006 when we got 23.9" -- obviously a nice storm came through. These were the first real "normal or better" months we've had since December 2009. We're at 1160' in Kaohe Homesteads. Welcome rainfall, and tank is full! Last 3 days were lovely, though!

I really like that site RobG!

Looking back using the link provided - 2010, 2011 have been the driest years this century for Jan 1-July 2 period under 30" [per this link].

The wettest were 2004 & 2006 in the +80" range for this same period with 2008 a distant third with 70".
