Yes, Hawaii Ag accepts leg bands as long as they are "Closed Banded" but these can be removed and then you have no ID for the bird.
The microchips are injected into the breast muscle, if put anywhere else they migrate within the body because of the air sacks.
Most varieties of figs grow in Puna really well and they are also an excellent food item for parrots. They have the highest calcium level of any fruit.......actually figs are an inverted flower but that is another story.
Looking forward to meeting you folks,

Well I just happen to love figs too! So I'll be excited!
I work SO HARD to feed my birds a diet close to what they get in the wild. As it is, my macaws are in a 11 by 7 by 6 foot "cage". It takes up an entire room. It is called a walk in aviary, but I don't feel it's quite "aviary" size.
I can't wait to get them into a much larger enclosure. It's my dream to take my parrots and give them the best life I can afford. And I already spend most of my own income on them!
I can't wait to meet all of you parrot lovers. Here in Juneau there are very few parrot owners. So being around others of a similar love and affection will be awesome.
Do any of you do recall and other types of training? I'm huge into "working" my parrots. It's off topic but still interesting to me.
