So I've had these fantasies about taking your chickens and stuffing them up your ass and throwing you on your grill and then selling it as stuffed turkey. But I'm a vegan and can't reconcile the thought of doing that to the chickens. Let me tell you, though, that I don't kiss ass.

Now that is funny, I didn’t think that you had it in you to be funny. Next time label it as a joke some might think that was a threat. I know better because a 57 year old fun-gu expert like yourself probably has difficulty fighting a cold.

hawaiideborah, mahalo for your discussion about my post.

Repeal of DADT has the possibility of lowering morale, increasing the percentage of early outs and lowering recruitment numbers, all of which during wartime or peacetime can affect our National(and Pohakuloa's)security.

Let's see if I can make that leap you mentioned with the following scenario.

Personnel housed in a 30 man berthing area aboard ship (where they sleep stacked 3 high and have 1 open shower area) learn that 2 gay men are housed in the same berthing compartment. They make a request up their chain of command that the 2 men be moved to another location. Doesn't seem like much of a leap does it? Now, should they be housed in female berthing or one of their own?
This type of scenario is the reason for all of the talk about divulging your orientation ahead of time, so that personnel(a military member from Puna)may be housed in the correct location(spending more of the Puna taxpayer's money).

Let me try and make that leap another way.
If Johnny is against homosexuality because of his religion or the values that he holds for himself, should he be forced to share a shower, sleeping and changing area with a gay man?

That's why being REQUIRED to declare your sexual preference may be an unintended consequence of the repeal of DADT.

How about this.
Question, If a homosexual is attracted to the same sex the way heterosexuals are attracted to each other, do you think they should be seperated in barracks and berthing compartments, like males and females already are?

Mauka, I have to call BS.
First let me say I don't really give a rip about the debate topic of the thread. It's a done deal now and it will be what it will be so I have no interest.
but

The BS:
1)Yes there have always been gays in the military and recruiting ("convert") attempts would naturally be reduced (not eliminated) when a person is concerned about being outed. 2)In my 20s I had gay men try to recruit me 3 times. I never considered myself "cute" at the time but maybe I had a nice azz or something (I don't believe my wife even thinks I'm cute now). I was working in the hospitality industry at the time if that means anything.
So yes, some gay men do recruit.
3)Your other example with the dorms is bad too. Most (any I know of) co-ed dorms are co-ed for the building, or even floor but not within the suites or rooms themselves. Big difference.
