Disturbing, racist post
Did any of us choose our Parents?...No

If you could be any Race. Would you want to be the Race you are?

Racism is ignorant and pointless...

Two aliens pass on the street. They look identical except for one thing. One is purple and the other one is orange...
The orange alien turns around and yells at the purple alien:

" Hey man I don't dig you. You're purple"

The purple alien replies:

" oh yeah, well I don't dig you because you're Orange Man"

"Oh yeah says the Orange alien" and pulls out a knife and stabbs the Purple alien who begins to bleed .

The purple alien also pulls out a knife and stabbs the Orange alien and he too begins to bleed.

They both stand there watching each other's red blood pouring out onto the ground.

Suddenly they realize what they have done and say.
" We're both the same"

Then they both fall over dead and that's the end of Alien Rasism.
One Thing I can always be sure of is that things will never go as expected.

Well, this has sure been a hoot. I've had to check Punaweb several times a day just to see where the thread was going. Thought I had better get my two cents worth in before Rob shut her down.
My wife, Carol, and I have gone to several of the Punaweb get-to-gathers over the last few years and have enjoyed meeting many of you. We have seen nothing but warm fellowship at these gatherings. My hope is that this face to face grace will prevail in the following context also.
We attend and are active in Puna Baptist Church on old Pahoa Road where it meets the transfer station road. PBC runs several ministries besides our regular church services: a food pantry service, a teen group, a kid's after school club, and a men's group that goes out once a month to do needed services (home repairs, etc) for folks who could use a little help.
We, just this week, got all our permits to build our permanent church building on our new property on Pahoa-Kapoho Road on the right about one half mile down from highway 130. We have the land cleared, graded, seeded and our parking lot dry wells in. Next we'll do the septic system, one more dry well and the building foundation. In May there will be an all volunteer crew coming over from the mainland to spend a couple of weeks putting up the building itself. A kinda free vacation for them as we are supplying the housing and food. For all this work and materials our rather small church has to rai$e quite a bit of money. Here is where the Punawebbers can meet "the Lack", and help us so we can continue to help our community.........
As we did last month and plan on doing on the second Friday of every month the PBC Men's Ministry will be serving a great dinner (take out or eat under our awnings)for an $8.00 donation to the PBC Building Fund. Our women's group will be holding their monthly community garage sale on the same day.
Huli-Huli CHICKEN DINNER SALE chicken by "the Lack"
Friday, January 14th, will be our monthly Huli HuliChicken Dinner sale to raise money for our new church building fund. Meals may be pre-ordered. The dinners can be picked up at the Church beginning around 10:30 A.M. on Friday. To order call Jim at 965-2328
DINNERS INCLUDE: 1/4 large Ohia-fired barbecued Chicken by "the Lack".
SIDES (choose two): Steamed Rice -- Tossed Green Salad -- Hawaiian Cole Slaw -- Mac Salad -- Cheese Biscuit Desserts are $1.00 each
Our first Huli Huli Chicken sale was a big success. The Men's Fellowship has decided to do it on a monthly basis. We are starting a little earlier to make it easier for folks to pick up their food for the workplace or for dinner. Talk this up with your co-workers, friends and neighbors. Offer to do pick up & deliver if it will help us sell more. THANKS

You need to put this in the classifieds and in its own thread just to get it away from the $%#@ that is in this one.
Congratulations on your church's success. It sounds like you have a great group of caring members.

Noted and done. Thanks a lot.
However, I really don't think it's as bad as it sounds. I'll bet if we were all together someplace we could even have a few chuckles about what has gone on here. I think some people (like me if I don't stifle myself) just like to be a little contrarian. My younger brother was also that way - any thing to stir the pot and fan the fire. Fun to watch what happens.

Jim thank you so much for the kind words and I really appreciate your sediments. I do Huli Huli chicken fund-raiser for only one reason. That is to give back something to the community that has given me so much. I don’t want or need a pat on the back for doing what every person should be doing. You and your church has been giving and giving and giving and its time that the community gives a little back to you. So you continue your good work.... God bless.... and if I can help just call.

First--pardon my ignorance, but what is the hulihuli chicken, and where can I try some (when I come over in Feb.)?

Second, has anyone seen the way old original Star Trek, where the crew is on some alien planet where the inhabitants are black on one side and white on the other. There is a lot of fighting going on and the Star Trek crew trys to stop it. The ST crew trys to find out what the basis of the violence is.The inhabitants are in a race struggle, and Kirk says to the effect of what's the basis of this? You are both black on one side and white on the other. One inhabitant says, Yes, but they are white on the left side!! I think Kirk just rolled his eyes after that.

For a 1960s sci-fi TV show, Star Trek could be pretty hip on a budget.

One month from today, we come to Big Island again for eight days!!Get to see my beautiful grand daughter. You know what one of my favorite things is? Getting off the plane at Hilo Airport. Can't wait.

Take care, all,

Jon

birdmove - I agree about Star Trek, personally I'm still a "tribbles" man myself.
------ as for the "Huli Huli Chicken" question, the answer has to be that it's the best way to cook chicken I've tasted and the Lack's is the tastiest , by far, on the island. I believe that "Huli Huli" is Hawaiian for "Turn, Turn". When Tom Lackey does it here's what you get: a large chicken rotisserie roasted over an open bed of ohia wood coals and lightly basted and glazed with Tom's great sauce. His chickens are close to four pounds each. He looks like Dr. Kildare in an Aloha shirt when he's out at his trailer barbecue looking over his "patients" except he carries a meat thermometer rather than a stethoscope. Concerning the rest of the meal the PBC Men's Ministry offers: the rice is just that. Sticki Rice, as we call it, done in a few Aroma rice cookers by a Hawaiian guy named Yamamoto. The Cheese Biscuits are ala Red Lobster and came from a recipe that was made public on the internet. The Mac Salad (my wife and I call it Mayonnaise salad) is island style and edible. (OK, so it's not our favorite) The Hawaiian Cole Slaw is freshly made with pineapple for sweetness and flavor. The desserts our guys cooked up include a great scratch made Banana Pudding with Vanilla wafer. Chocolate macadamia nut Brownies and cake. We hope to add hot cooked Malasadas (how cool would that be?) soon.
You can take your meals home or eat them under our tents. We'll even supply the drinks, for a price. Suit yourself.
One of the reasons our last event was so successful was that some folks picked up multiple meals and took them to their homes and work places. They can be preordered. If you would like to do that call and we'll have your order ready. 965-2328 or 345-2427. If this works out we may even supply delivery by one of the local Motorcycle groups. Remember how, as a kid you knew the ice cream man was coming by the sound of his trucks music. Now you can know your meal is arriving by the roar of the motorcycle. Just kidding.
Seems like the more we get people involved the more enjoyable it becomes. Hope to see you on January 14th at Puna Baptist Church.
