So, where does the tax on our gasoline go too? Roads right, so we're getting triple taxed for the same purpose!

Just did mine. over 50% increase as well. At this rate in 2 years time (so when I register in 2014) mine will have gone from $110 - $400 on a $2000 old suv. If that happens it's getting pretty close to being cost effective to drive illegally considering how infrequently I drive especially into hilo where there are more police.

This is one of my favorites.

Lingle "balanced" the budget by raiding the "road maintenance fund" which is paid by vehicle registration fees. So fees had to go up to replenish the funds.

Meanwhile, roads don't actually get maintained. Whether this is because our roads are "private" or "not on Oahu" is left as an exercise for the reader.

Don't worry about it !!

Neal promised he wouldn't increase taxes. When questioned,he stated "This is a fee not a tax!"

Lingle didn't balance the budget by raiding the road fund, the legislature didn't want to make the cuts necessary to balance the budget!!!!

Something has to give !!

Neal could have made the cuts that were necessary but decided to increases fees !!
