Sen Ruderman, where is the proof
#71
OpenD@ 8:29:57-
Read everything that I said.
1) seeds could be engineered to die.
2) inadvertently (leaving aside the question of a patent for life).
And so on.
People got to calm down and think things through here.
Long term observation and reproducible studies are needed in cases of food and medicine.
The least little word seems to be like a dog whistle sometimes with some.

"proteins are nontoxic to humans and pose no significant concern for allergenicity"

permie

This is what the study said.I got the study from a website you linked to.

I'm sorry that you posted a link to a website that contradicts what you were trying to say.

There is a search link at the top of this page to answer another question you had !!

This is one very tiring argument.

1. Government and corporations are for-profit. Period. Ethics are secondary, and often used as window-dressing for marketing purposes.

2. GMO might contaminate the biosphere quickly enough that the effects are visible within our lifetimes; most of the problems will be left for future generations to solve.

Has anyone even considered that perhaps the intelligence of mankind is an evolutionary mistake? Driving ourselves to extinction is probably part of the plan. The only long-term hope is to get off this planet before the next massive environmental shift.

Now get off my lawn.

Talking with GMO supporters is like trying to play chess with a pigeon. No matter what happens, your just going to knock all the peices over and strut around like you won.

You want to feed your kids poison, fine by me. Just give me the ability to be able to feed mine non-GMO's, label them, and dont have them affecting Non-GMO crops.

Enjoy your childs ADHD and your future tumors.

Ill be like the rest of the civilized world, and personally banning GMOs in my life.

That isn't what is happening. I don't know why this is so hard for folks to understand, but without credible scientific proof that there is a health risk from GMOs... which there is not... then labeling is a First Amendment, free speech issue. The government cannot mandate labeling without a compelling public interest. The court's overturn of Vermont's rGBH Milk labeling law in the 1990s as being unconstitutional is an example.

As the decision in that case said, essentially, the public may want to know a variety of things... like what the cow had for breakfast, or what the cow's name is... but they have no compelling right to know everything they might wish to know. Only if there is a proven and compelling public interest can the government step in with requirements. There is no such proven and compelling public interest in the case of GMOs.

Voluntary labelling of products as "GMO Free," if they are, is legal, and something you are welcome to encourage.

GMO is not the only vector; there is a long list of things "presumed safe" and therefore exempt from labeling laws.

ADHD is either an evolutionary branch, or it's caused by too much television.
