Are you typing your comments on a computer? The hardware and software were probably designed by self indulgent baby boomers like Steve Jobs or Bill Gates. Got a cell phone? A late model car with safety features? I'll stop here as I don't want to spend the entire morning writing the Baby Boomer's Contribution to Society Manifesto.

one or two posters with a host of sock puppets are slowly draining the life out of what once was a relevant web meeting place - defiling comes to mind - count one less reader - this site has become about as relevant as teats on a bull.

We will forever disagree on this., and as many people who don't agree with me, just as many agree.
Its a matter of choice, and I choose to not let this epidemic of robberies continue, at the very least in my household.
We all agree the police do nothing, so what good is your security camera ?
If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem, that is a fact.
I know I can be harsh and straight forward and some people can't swallow that, but the truth is, the HARD truth is, this has been happening for a LONG time, and if you've lived here for all that time, than YOU have enabled it.
Getting rid of crime is a positive thing, regardless whatever your anti-arms cry is.
DO something about the crime, or move out of the way of people who will.
If you have been living here 5,10, 20 years than you had your chance, and you got no where.
You can choose to not arm your household if you want, I'll respect that, but you will also respect the fact that I will arm mine.

Locking your door would do much more than shooting someone in your house.
Both of these home invasions happened when the perp entered through an unlocked door.
Step one is not shoot someone. ever. any responsible gun owner knows this. but with all due respect bro, locked doors, cameras, gates, haven't stopped the epidemic in this area. Those crooks were going to get in regardless, they were armed and had a mission.
Which is even MORE nuts, that people want to complain about homeowners being armed, when the thieves were armed !!!
Also, I can't remember who said "I have insurance, let them take what they want"
Insurance doesn't cover your wife having nightmares at night after she was robbed and beaten. Insurance doesn't cover your psyche after this type of thing happens to you. A home invasion will scar you forever. I couldn't imagine a poor woman trying to sleep at night knowing she was beaten or raped at the hands of an intruder. I also couldn't understand the mind of a man that would watch someone do this to his family. Insurance doesn't cover any of those things, which will ruin your life forever.
If faced with the unfortunate situation, of defending my family or allowing this to happen...as much as I do not like blood, its them before me.
Imagine, trying to ever sleep a night again after you were home invaded ?
These poor elderly people will NEVER sleep a sound night again, ever.
And some of you want to do NOTHING.
I mean, really ? How is that ok to you ?

Okay, okay. We get the picture. You would sleep better if there was a dead body in your living room.
You are taking the long way of simply saying "Don't Tread On Me."
Assume the best and ask questions.

If you shoot and kill someone in your bedroom, you don't think that will have a lasting impression?
You are suggesting that my 91 year old mother should arm herself ?
She can't even see.

How is this different than the situation in the the other 49 states? They also had their chance, and they all still have crime.
