Tiffany Edwards Hunt running for Council
I think it's fair to say that by rumor's standards it's been established that Tiffany is underhanded and pretty much a cut throat when it comes to her own business (hey get over it, it's the American dream). I mean.. having pulled that stuff on the surf shop's next door neighbor, and on main street to boot, where one would expect it's a commercially zoned free for all is just bs. And we've gone over her lack of journalistic morals.. and ok she got caught with her hand in the cookie jar with this IRS homeowners exemption stuff.. and all sorts of oops she didn't know or forgot or whatever.. but tell me.. oh please tell me.. what in the world is this big bucks from out of town support stuff? I mean has anyone considered what THOSE people want with little ol Puna? Where's da money honey? And, what has Tiffany promised them to get their support? We're not talking mom and pop's corner store type stuff here...

From Political Radar, the Star Advertiser blog:

Maybe we are back to the winter practice professional sports venue that was talked about at Pohiki years ago.

Hard to tell.

This is what concerns me about Tiffany. I have heard lots of comments of people who have disagreed with her having pressure or verbal threats directed at them. We need a fair, objective council member NOW.

I know this is old news, however, it indicates to me an entitlement mentality that rules and laws pertain to everyone else, not her:

Tiffany Edwards Hunt is not disqualified from the primary even though she has claimed a homeowner's tax exemption which would require residence there in District 3,
then "rests her head" in District 5,
and for the past two elections has voted in District 4 using her husband's business address as her voting residence.
Makes me wonder.....

And not to forget that her husband has claimed homeowner's exemption for their residence in District 5 also.

I am wondering also…..

More like a direct hit , and a sad indication of a corrosive influence in our local political establishment.

With all the craziest in this election, the County Clerk and head of elections for the Big Island, Stewart Meada, has assured us that he will be sending a complaint for 'voter fraud' against, Tiffany Edwards Hunt, to the prosecutor's office by Wed. of this week.

Not knowing that the complaint had not been sent yet, I called the prosecutor's office, and spoke to Mitch Roth.

In talking with him about the complaint, Mitch said, off the cuff, that he was unaware that 'voter fraud' was a felony. I guess no lawyer knows all of the law and so I made Mitch aware that it was a class C felony, punishable by a $10,000 fine and up to 5 years imprisonment. That is how serious it is folks.

Maybe I am saying this too prematurely but please do not let the Prosecutor Mitch Roth cover this case up or drag his heels in assigning it to a deputy prosecutor. The goal is an indictment, which will result in focusing on CLEAN ELECTIONS and preempting the corrupting influence, of Tiffany Edwards Hunt, that could have occupied the District 5 seat in 2015!

Good day everybody.

CLEAN ELECTIONS and preempting the corrupting influence

As long as the "lobbyists" can get whatever they want, it really matters not who we elect or how suitable a candidate they are.

Focusing on the petty issues makes it seem like a NIMBY vendetta.

Well, with that cynical attitude, there won'e be any change for the better. TEH could have said no to accepting campaigning "training" from SuperPac lobbyists, but she didn't. Paleka didn't get support from the SuperPak.

I realize some here get bent out of shape by comments on word usage, and I'm sorry in advance -- but the word NIMBY has a specific meaning, and it keeps getting used as a catchall for concerned citizen and neighbor complaints.

NIMBY means "I think "X" is a fine thing for the community and I will accept the benefits, but I won't make the sacrifice of having the ___ (dump, incinerator, highway, biofuel plant, geothermal plant, shopping center, etc..) as my neighbor."

NIMBY refers to a certain hypocrisy of wanting the benefit but not sharing the burden.

NIMBY does not relate in any way to citizens asking for enforcement of existing codes, zoning, laws on voting, laws on paying proper taxes, and so forth. It doesn't apply to the opposition to SPACE either, unless the opposer is pro-SPACE but just wants it to move across the subdivision.

The reason I object to using NIMBY wrong is that NIMBY has a negative connotation, so it's easy to use as a label and make people look automatically in the wrong. For that reason, you should limit its use to actual NIMBYism. *off soapbox*

Thanks for the update, Sativa. Did anyone ever ask TEH if she declared the rental income and had a GET license for it?

HNN ran a segment last night on how the state is cracking down on undeclared rentals, and trying to recover the millions of dollars in lost tax revenue in Hawai'i.

It becomes NIMBY when those citizens are only concerned about the enforcement that happens "near their house".

To use SPACE as an example: those "concerned citizens" stopped complaining as soon as SPACE moved away. If, instead, they complained about every lack of compliance (such as that which might be taking place at Uncle Robert's), then yes, it would cease to be NIMBY.
