i was kidding about stockpiling the ammo (because ebola may mutate and go airborne any moment).
the editor's note for the NPR interview changed the word "pathogen" more specifically to "virus", that's all. that "Mail Online" source has a conservative tabloidish slant and sure seems to love sensational headlines by the looks of it. try check the comments section ...crawling with UN conspiracy nuts. count me out of being associated with any of this xenophobic doomsday hysteria.
here's Donald Trump weighing in with a tweet last month... sounds vaguely familiar:

The U.S. must immediately stop all flights from EBOLA infected countries or the plague will start and spread inside our "borders." Act fast!

I read one report of a clinic in Liberia where patients lay in and people walked through puddles of goo that had leaked out of ebola victims. The title of the article was "Why Ebola is Spreading in Liberia". I am not downplaying the seriousness of the risk but while we in the west are wearing hazmat suits there are many situations in Africa where people aren't even wearing gloves.

Out of context, yes, it could cause panic.
In context with the rest of my comments, it's a ridiculous exaggeration of some of the fear mongering that has spread across the internet in just one day about ebola. Sorry if I wasn't more obvious. All of the fear spread about the disease is dependent on twisting a fact or two about ebola, such as, it's not easily communicable, BUT IF IT WAS...
Chain of Craters Road will in reality be a one lane road, not a one way road. See how it's done?

I am guessing that those most concerned might not be the most hygienic of the our bunch.
Wow dude! Get a grip! I am elderly. I only have 60% of my lung capacity due to an autoimmune condition and am on oxygen therapy.. and would surely die if I was so challenged.. exposed. I wash.. clean.. brush. etc etc.. every day! So get a frickin grip! There are children who are at higher risk.. people with impaired systems.. and the elderly.. so give up trying to put the blame on someone that doesn't know how to wash their frickin hands for God's sake! I am sorry but your line is SO INAPPROPRIATE it is verging on criminal! Something Hitler would spout!

Curiously you never see doctor decked out in protective suites when routinely dealing with HIV patients nor are HIV patients placed in quarantine. So all this bull crap of Ebola not being anymore contagious than HIV is horse ****. HIV spread is done over years from an infected person not within just a couple weeks so the comparative scale is severely flawed. The Ebola virus is far more a danger as a contagion than HIV thus allowing it to spread like wild fire compared to that of HIV. Make no mistake an outbreak has a very high probability and that's why its handles like it is. Once out of the bottle and slightly spread... it's a genie that isn't going to be put back in the bottle easily.
Within the past couple days a journalist covering the Ebola story from where the Texas bound victim came from was geared up in a protective taped up suite and still became infected. Several healthcare workers fully suited have become infected. Hygiene my ass.

In the early days of HIV, doctors did wear hazmat suits, because they did not understand how it was transmitted. There was a lot of fear, as well as misinformation about aids in the 1980's:
In the early days of the AIDS epidemic, care was virtually nonexistent. Many patients
died in hospital emergency wards. Those who were admitted encountered terrified health
care workers and indifferent medical doctors who refused to touch them without wearing
HAZMAT “moon suits.”

Those doctors that have caught it, were already wearing double gloves. Now, they are suiting up with 4! layers of gloves to aid them in taking it all off, and not getting exposed.

This is not the Early days of Ebola and they are still suiting up. Early as a U.S. visitor but no where near the early days of its introduction into the world and medical science. "Moon suites" will be used if this thing gets out of control.
