A bucket left in the yard showed about 3/4" of rain here on Rd 8 in Eden Roc. Maybe as much as 1". Catchment came up several inches but probably not quite a foot. My ratio of roof area to catchment area is about 8 to 1 so 1 " of rain should raise the level 9", 8" from the roof and 1" directly into the tank.

Upper Orchidland got about 12 hours of drizzle. It just stopped. Hopefully just temporarily. I measured about a quarter inch but later noticed the chickens drinking out of it so I don't know how much we really got.

If you want to see where the rain has fallen over 3 hour increments go here;
http://www.prh.noaa.gov/hnl/pages/hydrology.php

Eventually you can see the results of rainfall here;

There a lot of sulfur dioxide left hanging around so these first rains will be pretty acidic. You might want to add some extra baking soda today;

I hope you enjoyed the long period of hot dry weather because by the end of March 2015 (heavy downpours) we'll be back to dreaming of such weather!

The NOAA graphical rainfall summary for Mountain View shows only .54" in all of February, the vast majority of it in the last 24 hours. I observed bout 1" on Rd 8 and Mimosa describes considerably more further down the hill. Seems like those areas closer to the coast are getting more.

Just checked Pahoa. They got 1.4" in February so far and .6" just in the last few hours.
