county inspectors used for harassment
standards are fine and dandy for application in the profession of building

Standards tend to be designed around a worst-case scenario, then applied as a "one-size-fits-all".

Example: a typical Puna home doesn't need to worry about snow load, nor does someone in Volcano have to worry about tsunamis.

birchl,

If 3/4 of Puna is not paying their fair share of property tax etc; then, does that mean the remaining 1/4 is paying for everyone? And this blackmail you speak of, since when is seeing to it that the law is enforced blackmail? If you rat out an ice dealer is that blackmail too? It sounds to me like you happened to get caught (and I'm certainly not convinced someone else is to blame) avoiding your responsibly, mouthed off to the authorities, and are now looking for sympathizers. Others here have expressed several valid opinions, but that won't save you from what you've apparently, in one way or another, brought upon yourself. Next time you get caught for a traffic infraction try telling the cop that everybody else is doing it and see where that gets you.

i did not "get caught"!! i have done nothing wrong!! , i have not "avoided my responsibilities", i did not 'mouth off', i in fact tried very hard not to be directly angry at the men involved, and i am not looking for sympathy, so you are pretty much wrong on all counts. furthermore my home is assessed and taxed as a resident, and the assessor measured its square footage to be sure i wasn't being overcharged. i do not know whether that tax is more because some people have no permits at all. i would have thought that people that were actually avoiding paying tax by claiming to run bogus businesses or farms are more likely to be adding to the tax burden?

Are you not living in a home that has not passed its final inspection? If so, you are illegally living in it. Has your permit lapsed beyond the due date?

You are confusing building permits and inspections with the tax office. They are separate entities. The tax office will tax your non-finaled house as if it were finaled so that people don't have a reason to not complete the process and pay a lower tax. When discovered, people with no permits at all will also be charged property tax as if the property had been through the permitting process.

Why don't you ardently pursue the process of getting your home thru passing a final inspection?

If 3/4 of Puna is not paying their fair share of property tax

This one has been rehashed to death, but: the proverbial "tin shack tax cheat" cannot compare to the "special rate for largest landowner" and "vacant lot ag exemption".

leilanidude - it is not me that is confusing the two, i was simply pointing out to those that are desperate to make this my fault, that no, i was not a tax cheat. or any other kind of cheat. and once again, this is not about permits. this is about using bogus authorities to harass and intimidate people. its bad enough to be subject of visits by CPS investigating false complaints, or the police, who are sick of the two major complainers. every time someone upsets certain people in this subdivision then there is a string of complaints made to authorities. not just about the center, but about those serving freely to improve it. the police and CPS have no choice but to follow through with complaints, even though they know they are frivolous. we have had police told that a cell phone was a gun, that a person that HIT THEMSELVES was assaulted, and on and on. i have taken over as treasurer under considerable discord. i am an outspoken opponent of those trying to destroy our community. an outspoken opponent of mass proxies, i am changing the accounting system, and therefor bringing the previous accounts under scrutiny. i am asking for a review on what happened with 8 road, and what the counties intentions are now. ....and suddenly i have my cute, well built, taxed and declared cabin under the scrutiny of the county. there is nobody i have spoken to (apart from the trolls of course) that has ever even heard of all three inspectors turning up at the same time. so, yes, i think it has something to do with my position as treasurer. i have had myself and my family insulted and threatened in every way. my honor student son, who graduated a year early because he is awesome, was accused of being a drug dealing drop out. my gentle, kind, caring husband has been publicly accused of being a bully. and what has been said about me is so bad that even Facebook will not tolerate it. People are desperately trying to close this board down. i am fighting back. i am the only one prepared to take on the council, although people did defend themselves against CPS and Assault charges, those defenses cost those people dearly. most of the board are more than concerned with this new development. so what do you suggest??? that we all resign?? that we close the center simply because by VOLUNTEERING TO HELP we are putting ourselves and our families at risk of one set of slander and liable after another.??

if i don't fight this, than it means that none of the boards of these subdivisions are safe from blackmail or persecution. 'do what we say or we will make trouble' IS BLACKMAIL. the people sueing the center, and reporting us all to various authorities have bigger problems than i. they are sad, pathetic souls. unfortunately the fall out from these poor excuses for humans ifs greater than they deserve credit for.
