I think a couple of you are missing the point.
Midnight Rambler posted as fact a set of statements about the person who caused this wreck, but did not say where he got the information from. I asked him where he got it from so I could weigh the validity of the statements for myself, I did not call him a liar or accuse hime of making stuff up, I just asked where he got the information. It isn't unreasonable to ask a poster to cite the source of their information, especially when there is a fair amount of misinformation out on the "interwebs" as KJoe calls it.
Punaweb isn't immune from BS, people regularly post as fact something they heard in the grocery store or from a friend of a friend of a friend, it isn't called the coconut wireless for nothing.

the information is from the public record. Try eCourt Kokua and input the drivers name. He has twelve court appearances for a couple dozen traffic violations and was driving in a suspended license. From Kaneohe.

Shockwave Rider,
If I am one of the posters you were referring to as missing the point, let me clarify my post. I didn't call you a liar or state that you accused MR of making stuff up...neither did anyone else. I posted where to find this information on a public website that I find reputable.

PW also has a fair share of people that don't know how to use search and provide enough indication they are newbs. This is usually indicated by demanding other people provide linky's because they are too ignorant or too lazy to look it up themselves. We don't live long enough to backtrack and validate every single thing that rattles around in our heads as being absolute fact, very little of it experiential. To get fixated on doing that is madness.

So Pahoated....you don't live long enough to validate a fact, but in Shockwave's case, it's him being lazy to not thoroughly research what someone has stated as fact? Seems like a hypocritical view to me.

A suggestion for a New Year Resolution? "Can we all just get along?" Maybe take a moment to review our posts prior to hitting "Submit". Too often what we perceive as apposite, clever or funny comes across in print as sarcastic or just plain rude. (I used to be perfect util I got married).

My hope for 2016 is Slow The Frick Down. And not to 10 mph below the speed limit, either. Nobody is mentioning that stretch but it is 55 from Shower to the Kea'au transfer station now, goes down to 50 after that but most people keep going 55. The 55 is needed in that stretch to keep increased traffic moving but a lot of things can happen. Fatality accidents used to close Hwy 130 for a whole day. I don't go into town that often but it's rare to not see another ambulance going into Puna or coming out of Puna every time.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but just south of the Keaau Transfer Station is a stretch of road that is a legal passing area. Look at the stripes on the highway the next time you drive through. It is not double yellow. I'm not sure this had anything to do with the accident, but it's possible the driver at fault made a legal (although ill advised) maneuver.
There is a name for 3 lane highways with a passing zone on the mainland: Death Highways. They stop using that design on most mainland roads in the 1960's after statistics showed a much higher accident and death rate.
