TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo
the observatories wanted no unauthorized access by the public.

The Air Force observatory on Haleakala has signs posted around the building that say: NO ENTRY.
With a drawing of a gun, a bullet, and a body below.
It's not exactly like the link blow but gives the same general impression.

The moon kind of surprises me sometimes. I’ll be out at night and I’ll see a nice moon, and say, “Hey, that looks good.” Then I’ll say, “Oh sh-t, I went up there one time!” Kind of surprises me. It’s like there are two Moons, you know—the one that’s usually around, and then that one. - Michael Collins, Apollo 11 astronaut

Assuming the future will all be about space-based telescopes, how about we build a launch facility?

Seriously, I want to see the planning process begin, so that some Protectors can appeal the decision on the basis that construction at the chosen location would desecrate the land. I believe their criteria for "sacred" is "anywhere that attracts enough money", it would be great to have some additional data to support this theory.

been there, done that.
There was a launch facility proposed for Ka'u back in the '70's or 80's. DOA

That was a long time ago relative to current climate of political sensitivities.

but given the current climate, would suffer the same fate. who would be foolish enough to bother bringing it up again?

As with so many projects: assumes the goal is to actually build something.

FYI: More videos of the last meeting are available; there are now five (5). Mahalo again to Big Island Video News.

(*Note: On the right hand side, are the list of videos at the link above.)

ETA: Listening to the first one (shown on page above), Mehana Kehoi brings up the potential conflict of interest between BLNR member, Stanley Roehrig and PUEO group leader, Keahi Warfield, who share the same business address (101 Aupuni Street, Suite 124). Curious, at best; didn't know this tidbit prior to today. Roehrig should recuse himself from the process, at this point. Even the appearance of collusion is damaging to TMT's permit application.

ETA (again): http://www.bigislandvideonews.com/2016/0...q-counsel/

This one video (above) is most informative given the laws that apply to this matter. Further, the Sublease issue has not been settled as per Judge Nakamura's ruling. The "new" entity, "TIO", is not the original applicant, etc. What is far worse, is the allegations being made regarding documents and proper protocol in distribution. Again, the State/UH/BLNR and their lawyers, are just as guilty of potentially delaying this contested case hearing, as the opposing counsel and his clients ("Protectors"). SMH, again.

OK, pau. Not worth getting a damn headache (in this heat) over this. Ugh.

Never ending, convoluted, hot damn mess. SMH.

JMO.

"The ground based optical telescope only works part time, during the night, the thickness of the atmosphere is extremely limiting, and the future is not in optics but EM."

Er, you do realise optical light is part of the electromagnetic spectrum, don't you?

*They* put the mind CONTROL serum in the CONTRAILS to make you THINK that TomK! Anyone taking ENOUGH colloidal silver and kava with UNFLOURIDATED water knows there are NO electro MAGNETS in your eyes.

Stop the so called "telescopes" from polluting Mauna Kea. Electro magnetic RADIATION is spilled all over the summit EVERY DAY! They are making NO EFFORT to stop the neutrinos entering our watershed. Imagine our keiki swimming in DYHYDROGEN MONOXIDE thanks to their "RESEARCH".

They don't affect summit workers. Here's a picture of me before heading to work on the summit:
