Maku'u Farmer's Market Closed Today (Sept 4)
#21
I can't afford it to be open any more days, I spend too much money there as it is!

When Makuu Market closes, the decision and announcement are made well in advance to allow vendors time to prepare. It is not simply a matter of throwing the tarps back on and opening up. If food needs to be picked or prepped, that probably starts on Thursday or Friday. They made the right call this past week based on the information at hand.

a Saturday or Wednesday or ANYDAY market thats just produce

There's a permanent produce market on Highway 11, at mile 12, just before the water tank and Cafe du No Parking. Monday-Saturday until 6pm, I think they even take EBT now.

What?! These people are being intimate and ludicrous at the same time?? Did you mean to say insinuate? lol! These people ARE making large amounts of money. Whether or not it goes to a building fund and what they do with it is another story. Nobody said it was a sin. I simply thought it was in their best interest to follow the weather and re-erect the tents when there is no storm. Power to them, I even said I want that job! As far as the racism and bigotry, the only thing in this thread that went that direction is Pahoateds quote.

Simple Definition of intimate
: to say or suggest (something) in an indirect way

ElysianWort, Are you insinuating to the whole forum that I don’t know how to use the English language or that I don’t know how to spell or use vocabulary correctly? lol! Back at you

Spelling is good, but what's this about racism and bigotry? That was quite the stretch from making money to bigotry. Please don't bring the Black Lies Matter garbage to Puna. If you want to play the racist card get real about it. "Haoles" have been discriminated against with rampant racism for decades around here, including not being hired to government jobs.

Thanks for providing a much better example.

- Be pleasant to inefficient workers; give them undeserved promotions. - Work slowly. - Refer all matters to committees for "further study and consideration. - Hold conferences. - Make travel as inconvenient as possible. - Haggle over precise wordings of communications. - Advocate “caution.” Be “reasonable” and avoid haste. So, I sez to myself, back when I started this thread, I sez, I did...

Surprised that Maku'u Farmer's Market was closed when we went. Well, I'll drop a post on good ol' Punaweb so other folks don't waste a trip.

But don't most threads on Punaweb lead to race-baiting and name-calling, and lunacy?

This is just a simple thread about a market being closed today. Don't be ridiculous.

Uh ok so I was teasing a bit about the intimate thing when I made the joke about being intimate and ludicrous. I felt the word intimate didn't fit there and was trying to throw some light-hearted word humor back at you. So I'm wrong and way down the list somewhere is the definition of how you use intimate. My Merriam Webster's Collegiate Dictionary 10th edition says: 1 a : intinsic, essential b : belonging to or characterizing one's deepest nature 2 : marked by very close association, contact, or familiarity 3 a : marked by warm friendship developing through long association b : suggesting informal warmth or privacy 4 : of a very personal or private nature.

Apparently it goes beyond that and there are more definitions of the word. I learned something today.

I'm not afraid to admit when wrong. It's a forum where we discuss topics. People have opinions and senses of humor and personalities. RJ You seem to be angry about the whole thing where I believe Makuu market has a good money making thing going.

there are more definitions of the word.

RJ used the verb form, not intimate as an adjective which is probably used more often:

verb (used with object), intimated, intimating.
1. to indicate or make known indirectly; hint; imply; suggest.
2. Archaic. to make known; announce.
