Way higher turn out than I was expecting. The actual march managed to wrap around itself on it's circuit of downtown. First time I've heard crowd noises like that from Mooheau bandstand. Impressive.
If only we could get a crowd like this to turn out for the homeless of our island with willingness to help try and solve the problem.
But I understand this was a political thing.
No, it was a human rights thing.
Then is not homelessness a human rights thing too? I would also say homelessnes is a political thing.
After all homelessness takes into account widows, mothers and children.

That's fine if you want to say that ldude just dont pigeon hole everybody. I've never voted for anything in my life.. ever. But I still have an opinion. At 51.. I am happy saying ... if nobody else gives a crap.. why should I.

Photos from marches around the world yesterday, Hilo didn't make this set, but Honolulu, Kahului, Guam did (even Antarctica):

Had a Russell Ruderman sighting around noon at Island Naturals, My Dad and I joined the community at the bandstand but I had to get him out of there when he got drenched. Anyone know if Ruderman made it to the March? He didn't look as soggy as we were.

It was estimated by police that 2200 showed up. "Braun said police told her the turnout was more than for the annual downtown Ho‘olaulea."

For what it's worth we, personally, also
took food to the homeless we encountered during the walk. But honestly it is hard to solve all the world's problems in one march. And it seems people will always find a way to criticize you because our country is so divided now. We had a few anti-abortion people yelling at us. Some guy screaming at us that "English" is the language of the devil and oppressors. There were also some religious people yelling at me about how Trump would bring glory to the US (whatever that meant) as God wants it.
On-line here we have leilanidude saying we ignored homeless people and a few others saying the march is sexist, etc.
The divisions in America is a cancer upon all of us. Let's try to cure it instead of spread it.

Over 1 million join anti-Trump women’s marches worldwide
If you read the entire article, the writers expand on the headline to mention numerous other reasons people attended the march, healthcare, the environment, family economics, etc. It also goes on to indicate that although it was a "Women's March," men and children were also in attendance.

The total was between 3.3 and 4.6 million, plus another several hundred thousand outside the US. A group of people made a useful spreadsheet with high and low estimates for each, and sources:
