TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo
Then what does the illegality of the overthrow have to do with anything? BTW it seems disingenuous to me to suggest that the overthrow is not the central point of the debate.

Misguided assimilation of western values that did not best serve Hawaiians was definitely a huge part of the problem. Harping on the overthrow does not best make that point.

Does Kealoha Pisciotta believe that she is a rock?

At some point in the hearing the topic of rocks was being discussed. A witness was responding to a chain of questions linking one of the Hawaiian gods to the mountain, the rocks on the summit and the human species.

I think that Kealoha was asking the questions. I'm not positive, but it seemed that the conclusion or logical deduction was that humans actually are rocks.

If you want to see an interesting turning point in the trial, watch Pisciotta realize that Keahi from PUEO presents a viewpoint she had never considered. His full testimony is on the pueo website and it's very interesting I think it's only about an hour long.

Sticking to the Original lease may be the best thing to do today rather than any extensions at this stage.

Mauna wa Kea Quietly became the astronomy capital of the WORLD without the controversial TMT project. The "65" year lease stands to expire in the year 2033, at which time all telescopes should be decommissioned and removed from the shared sacred lands. The need for important healing, respect and reflection will then be allowed to begin for the host who shared. So many amazing native and local people alike have shown great courage, Mana and aloha spirit throughout these trying times.

IF the TMT project is pushed forward Today then "everyone" stands to lose. Lose, In a time that so much could have been gained. Especially for the "worlds" Keiki today and tomorrow. jmo

The 65 year land lease needs to see it's tenure respectfully completed in 2033 as planed by the many from the past. "IF" The land is indeed restored closely to it's original state like often promised then The "true evaluation" of the lands in terms of dollars, sense, and proper use could take place during that time. Many past, present and future generations need to feel some pono about the use of our always respected and most valuable resources. S-elected oppressors may have been taking, selling, mismanaging and desecrating Mauna Wa Kea for years. This way of resource management and oppression control of the people does not have to be the case forever. jmo

Before Keahi Warfield testified, Angry Harry took the mike and protested the witnesses of PUEO.

Maybe you can ask Harry why someone who
  • hijacked an aircraft, got a slap on the wrist,
  • was arrested, convicted and sentenced to 1 year in prison for driving without a license
  • was fired by his employer and then unsuccessfully sued his employer
should be allowed to participate in the hearing?

Pisciotta also objected to PUEO's standing, claiming that PUEO will not suffer an injury and therefore PUEO's testimony should be weighted at a minimum.

Amano chastised her and said that she already made a decision regarding who became parties.

Pisciotta does not stop after this admonishment. She claimed that they (PUEO) don't have standing because there's no injury in fact.

"IF" The land is indeed restored closely to it's original state... proper use could take place during that time. Many past, present and future generations need to feel some pono about the use of our... valuable resources. S-elected oppressors may have been taking, selling, mismanaging and desecrating Mauna Wa Kea for years.

Why stop there? Why limit the restoration only to recent "S-elected oppressors" who caused desecration? After we remove the observatories, let's also repair the damage to the Mauna Kea adze quarry, returning it as near as possible to the original state. We should then replant all of our lost koa trees. Once that's completed, a plan could be implemented for the reforestation of sandalwood across the vast areas where it was clear-cut from our sacred mountainsides.

The subdivisions should then be dismantled, as well as high-rises, roads, and paved walkways. Those people from North America, Europe and Asia can return to their proper homelands, and Polynesians to the islands of their ancestors.

Now, the Hawaiian Islands can truly return to a sacred space. No more "S-elected oppressors... taking, selling, mismanaging and desecrating." The "oppression control of the people... forever. jmo" will finally end.

In 1976 The Who were designated the loudest band on earth, when measured at 125 dB. Coqui frog: 100 dB.

Yes why half a@@ it. The whole island.. every inch of it was sacred to the first people that bobbed around in the ocean for months looking for it... then the sacred part somehow shrank over the generations ..

Sorry.... My spellcheck is mildly retarded .. Intellectually challenged.

It boggles the mind. Pisciotta claims to suffer damage based on subjective standards, basically because she says building the TMT will cause her to suffer damage, but claims to know that other Native Hawaiians can not suffer damage based on their own subjective standards.

Pisciotta... claims to know that other Native Hawaiians can not suffer damage based on their own subjective standards.

It's almost as if she is asking the judge to discredit an entire group of Native Hawaiian people, for the beliefs they hold.

The lease will be renewed and the telescopes will continue to make outstanding contributions to astronomical knowledge.
