TMT - Contested Case Hearing Status - Hilo
Ironically, they're using some technology to organize their resistance

Which is a good use for technology, if in pursuit of their goals they also use the technology to research accurate information to share with their followers.

If, however, they just make things up because it sounds true, or they heard from "some guy" that adaptive optics are bad, or even worse intentionally disseminate falsehoods and lies in order to create an emotional frenzy which generates donations for their personal support in lieu of a regular paycheck, that makes them abusers, not users of technology, and no more than modern day grifters offering snake oil to their followers instead of a DHHL homestead.

Some one asked about social media ****show and TMT. Here are a few examples from a handful of people which I've made anonymous for the most part, but it's all public.

OHA's promise to sue UH, DLNR and the State have spurred a lot of people to swarm OHA on the Aug. 1st meeting.
http://www.staradvertiser.com/2016/07/25...-to-court/

The BDS, is helping petitioners find ways to sue. Here is a discussion about it. The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Movement (also known as BDS and the BDS Movement) is a global campaign attempting to increase economic and political pressure on Israel to end violations of international law. They are assisting anti-tmt people:

When the land board holds its hearing at the Crown Room I'm thinking there should be another gathering in Hilo where everyone can speak their mind, bring their banners, play their music, eat their food, and let everyone see the love for the Mauna unencumbered by the rules of the DLNR. Of course you still need support in the room but hopefully way more people will want to represent the Mauna than will be allowed and why not do it in a way that expresses our freedom in the face of repression instead of creating a confrontation with that repression. Like Uncle Hank said, let's make more light rather than fight darkness.

Governor Ige and David Lassner - you are releasing a storm that you will not be able to control. Your choice. We are ready. Bring it. #TMTshutdown #HULI @Hanak#275;hau Action Art Camp

God gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers.

The odds and the money were stacked against us. Up against million dollar plaintiffs, our university, DLNR, and a retired judge...our petitioners showed resilience, true dedication, and deepest Kapu Aloha protecting Hawai#699;i from the people that are suppose to protect Hawai#699;i.

Their "fight" has been such beautiful experience. Gathering, researching, and sharing so much about our history while enduring sleepless nights staring at their computer screens, depleting their personal finances, and driving thousands of miles during the past year...fueled with love for each other, the most Ono food, Big Island Booch, beautiful hula, beautiful mele, essential oils, and heartfelt laughter. Never giving up, protecting our culture, reviving our nation, showing up, and showing em how it's done!

I'm so proud of our petitioners, our witnesses, and our supporting ohana, and I'll be there to support you any way I can...I am so blessed to be able to stand with you and witness history as it happens. Malamaing #699;#256;ina in the most Pono way possible!

There is also a meeting planned 7/31 7pm at UHMC 103 to form a plan to stop construction on Haleakala on Maui too.

You think TMT is a horror at THIRTY meters?!?! Heard from some close sources what UH IfA has got planned for Haleakal#257; NEXT: a FIFTY METER scope with the acronym "ELF-U"for looking at exo-planets.
`NUFF ALREADY!
Will YOU step up and let your voice be heard in defense of our mauna?

Continued war on Kanaka should be approved, says [Judge] Amano.

FB conversation

1-Why should a judge in New York decide what happens on a scared mountain in Hawaii ,after all Hawaii was stolen from Hawaiian royalty and a Queen was held prisoner in the palace .Let true Hawaiians decide the fate of the telescope ,the people who have Hawaiian blood not politicians

2-She had her mind set already!! Maybe paid off?

3-Too much power for one person..

Mahalo nui to the Mauna Kea Ohana for defending our piko... this is Hawane Rios in her stance to defend Mauna Auwakea...the most sacred of places. The battle against the TMT is just heating up. Prayers and encouraging words in kapu aloha are needed to Trump the hewa injustice and imperialist dispossession of our lands and cultures of Hawai'i Nei. Ku Kia'i Mauna in all we do and say with aloha for everyone and everything.

There is a movement for indigenous people to help each other protest, like Standing Rock.

Hope to see everyone tomorrow at LaHui Ea 2017 #educate2liberate #freehawaii #kakoohaleakala #tmtshutdown #eamaihawaiinuiakea #rise #cosmosknows

With lots of people outside chiming in support:

1 aloha and thanks for protect 'aina - all indigenous wisdom is needed now! blessings from vienna, Austria - EU

2 Delay. Delay. Delay. Make them build it somewhere else! And remove each of the others as they become outmoded!

3 translated from Japanese It is a good omen for the tmt problem of mauna kea.
In Japan, let's let them know that they are praying for the maunakea at this time.

Please take a photo of yourself with a triangle sandwich [she means the hand symbol of a triangle] on your own. Please share with a copy of this sentence.

E Pule K#257;kou!! (let us all pray! )))

Others from the outside are not so welcome as this discussion shows.

OP - posts image of hands in triangle around the TMT, bottom says, "A clear window to the heavens for all mankind"

A-That was not the point to this prayer haole.

A-[Directed at poster of the prayer, call them OP] Stay in California and don't chime in on matters you have no understanding or connection too.

OP- With all respect, the telescope is a State, national and world asset. I can see in the decision that a lot of people had their say and had their concerns weighed.
I am involved with Astronomy, so this issue does indeed have a connection with me. I am satisfied that the decision, for a project supported by the majority of residents of Hawaii, has resolved the legal issues.
I hope the educational system there works to reinforce the value of science in human affairs. I look forward to students seeing, and even working with, the kind of information that this amazing telescope will gather. The stars above us are seen with wonder by all, what we learn from them enriches us.

Protect Mauna Kea - Some people need to learn the difference between culturally appropriate and cultural appropriation!!!

In regards to the Oral Arguments meetings

2-FAR FROM OVER, l#257;hui!!
.
Remember, this is only round one! The Supreme Court is the final decision - this is only a RECOMMENDATION. We have a lot of work to do, and still a long way to go, but we're never giving up, and we're ready to do whatever it takes for the protection of our Mauna.

Keep your pule's strong, we need you.

3-Sorry I'm from Australia so I'm not sure what is happening. What are the ****ers trying to do? [he was told a 30 meter building was being put on the most sacred mountain and replied:] that's ****ing bull****. Surely they can put it on one of their own stupid buildings. Very sorry to hear about that. I so very much u all win the battle against the ****ers

4-When it comes down to it. These are just ways the haoles use to take land. I cant even go up the mountain at ka'ena point because their telescope needs "more security"
This is one of my favorites, because Ka'ena Point is on Oahu by a military base, no telescopes there.

5-I have the utmost respect for your people and your culture. I personally am not trying to take anything from you or anybody else. I just want to live my life in peace. If shown respect, you will get respect in return. I hate being categorized or guilty by association. If I were there, I would be shoulder to shoulder with you in this fight to protect your Sacred land.

7-we're ready.
we're still here.
we're more informed
more organized
more active
more engaged
more prepared
more practiced
more learned
more taught
more ready
and full of aloha '#257;ina.
there's more of us
seen and unseen
in the millions.
we've been rising
we haven't been waiting ideal.
we are standing
surrounded in prayer
standing in Kapu Aloha
filled with Aloha '#256;ina.
past, present and future.
we're ready.
we're thankful.
we are not defeated.

Thanks Eric1600,
In your Star-Advertiser link OHA says they're suing due to mismanagement of Mauna Kea. They suggest they take over. Are they joking?

Reports recently about the last circus in America closing down seem to be, as Mark Twain might have noted, greatly exaggerated.

How could that possibly happen here? Oh, wait, it already has...

It's called Eco-extortion - been going on for years....

It's called Eco-extortion

Exactly: that's why there's protests attached to a $1.4B telescope, but not the $30M Safeway/Target.

HOTPE @ 14:39:21 7/30/2017-
OHA suing someone else for mismanagement?
All those OHA clowns should be in jail.
For mismanagement of their responsibilities
and betrayal of all ordinary, non elite, Native Hawaiians.

I'm going to be a broken record again, but I have to say it. The TMT protesters have not only ignored the grievous failure and outright corruption of OHA/DHHL, but by taking the limelight away from more reasonable (and numerous) Hawaiians, they have delivered a serious setback to the legitimate aspirations of their people.

Have you thought that this may be one of the reasons for all this insane BS?
To preserve and maybe strengthen the corrupt Native Hawaiian elite that is part of our corrupt
governing system in Hawaii?[}Smile]

@ punaticbychoice: Of course! Stranger things have happened in the perverse world of Hawaiian politics.
