FYI! Per Hawaii District Engineer Don Smith who spoke at tonight's Eileen O Hara's Townhall meeting, the following improvements were proposed for funding from the TIGER Fund (Federal):
1. 29th Ave HPP - convert to be one way east bound; restrict southbound left turn access from Keaau-Pahoa Rd.
2. Pohaku Place - Restrict access at Pohaku Place to be right-in, right-out.
3. 30th Ave HPP - REstrict access to be right -in, right-out.
4. Kaloli Drive - Convert intersection of Kaloli and Keaau-Pahoa Rd. to be a 3-way roundabout w/ pedestrian crossing; add far-sided northbound and southbound bus pullouts on Keaau-Pahoa Rd.
5. Pohaku Circle - Restrict access to be right-in, right-out.
6. Paradise Drive - Designate left turns from west bound Paradise Dr. to Southbound Keaau-Pahoa Rd.
7. Orchidland Dr. - Convert the intersection at Keaau-Pahoa Rd. to be a 3-way roundabout w/ pedestrian crossings; add far-sided northbound and southbound bus pullouts on Keaau-Pahoa Rd.
8. Aulii Street - Restrict access to be right-in and right-out.
9. Ilima Street - REstrict access to be right-in and right-out.
10. Makuu Drive - Convert the intersection at Keaau-Pahoa Rd. to be a 3-way roundabout with pedestrian crossings; add far-sided northbound and south-bound bus pullouts on KEaau-Pahoa Rd.
11. Ainaloa Blvd - Convert the intersection at Keaau-Pahoa Rd. to be a 3-way roundabout w/ pedestrian crossings; add far-sided northbound and southbound bus pullouts on Keaau-Pahoa Rd.
12. Provide a continuous-multi-use shoulder that can accommodate pedestrians and bicyclists.
(As far as I can ascertain, this is info that was put into the grant application, the grants themselves have not been awarded yet)... so this information is inspirational.
