Hey guys, I'm looking to do a little camping while my place is getting painted. I know there are a few cabins on the mountain hunters use. Hapuna is all booked, I can't seem to be able to book Miloli'i.
Isn't there a cabin on a sandy beach in Ka'u. You have to hike a long ways tp get there (8-ish miles if I recall)
Any ideas? Mahalos!

SBH,
This one docent show on the map, it's a tiny beach with a cabin (full of ants) and toilet and you have to hump through something like 8 miles to get there, no 4x4 road.

&, of course, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park has cabins, improved campsites & back-country camping (as long as there is no shutdown while you are planning your camping.:

AKpilot - if you're talking about the one on the west side of the South Point cliff, it's private (KS I believe). On the east side of Kau there are only a few sandy beaches and I know none of them have cabins.

I live very close to Kalopa and am aware of the others. I believer I may be thinking of the KS cabin, it's from an old book I have back on the mainland.
Mahalo!
