HPP BIZ: Part the second

When I read the mermaid's report on the majority Board, I couldn't help but think of antifa.

New officers:

President: Dist1 Larry Kawaauhau. He will still be leaving the meetings at 8 PM and I imagine it will be the VP who will take over from that point on at the board meetings.

VP: Dist3 Kathleen Shaw

Secretary: Dist6 Craig Crelly. He doesn't type so this will be interesting.

I voted No on all 3. Kathleen Shaw will have to step down from her HRC seat and FC seat. That will be voted on at an upcoming meeting.

Membership Mailbox Committee Chair letter approved to post here on PT:

I hereby tender my resignation as chair of the Membership Mailbox Committee effective immediately.

I will no longer tolerate censorship of our status by the office. Minutes and updates of our progress have been regularly submitted to the office to be posted on the website for members to view. What actually gets posted is completely random and anything that is in any way deemed derogatory to the GM or a board member is deliberately not posted.

I will no longer fight for the right to use the library for our meetings. Our last request to use the office on 5 November has again gone without any reply.

I will no longer be held liable to follow arbitrary and unclear rules. Contradictions in bylaws. New policies surfacing which we are now told we need to follow, 8 months after our formation.

I will not be subject to a board which insists on respect, but does nothing to earn it.

Our new President is a known bully and has physically threatened people he disagrees with during meetings. He doesn't participate in any other committees or events. None. He shows zero initiative, leaves early from most meetings, and rarely has anything to contribute. And this is who the board has selected to lead them? Seriously?

Our new Vice President who confuses Roberts Rules as being our bylaws. Regularly criticizes HPP members on social media. Imposes standards on other committees that she herself will not live up to with the HR committee she chairs.

District 8. Doesn't show up to meetings at all. Very inappropriately laughed at the unfortunate bad news of the status of a family member of another board member. None of our new officers spoke out against this – not one. The complete lack of admonishment of this action speaks loud and clear about the character of our officers.

The association had this one last opportunity to work with the USPS to finally accomplish something for it's members. I am proud of our team and the progress we made. More than any other team has in the past 10 years. We established contacts. We developed a specific proposal. Every action we took has been documented and detailed. We did things right.

The complete lack of leadership shown by the board has likely cost the association and its members $1 million in assets which would have been gained if this project were able to be moved forward. Instead, members will continue to live without basic mail delivery service. The reputation of HPP will take yet another hit, and property values of all owners suffer as a result.

Sincerely,

Mike Smith

Next membership meeting: pitchforks and torches.

Pitchforks and torches are dramatic, but a process server with a well scripted lawsuit could be a start to some real change.

a process server with a well scripted lawsuit

...has been the answer this entire time. That it doesn't happen tells me the people of HPP are okay with the status quo, which is cheap at only $30/month.

Precedent is well-established: paying property tax and fuel tax and vehicle weight tax and excise tax and income tax but getting no improvement in services "near your house" (or anywhere else, really) while rail doubles in price and everyone gets a raise.

just catching up here.
Mermaid, so disappointed to read that you have been removed from the board (reason for this Unknown to me) .
First of all , I am disappointed for our Association. I recognize the knowledge and experience you are so so willing to share with us as well as your commitment towards making HPP as good as it can be. For me, as a property owner, I am equally disappointed.
You were our Rep. and I did feel that our district was in very good hands with your representation.
So much energy you have exerted within our community , I had truly hoped that your position on the Board would be a place for you to really excel, to be appreciated for what you are willing to contribute.
So nothing has changed. Eventually, our current bond will be paid off and there is no doubt for me that those Hell bent in retaining control are already salivating at the thought of the next influx of cash. They will get it......because people are idiots.
They will read, as they have in the past, "all the roads will be paved and it won't cost you anything!", they will read," we will provide everyone with mail boxes and it won't cost you anything!"
Oh God! where do I sign!! Yes, Yes! something for FREE!!! Oh boy!!!

There will be no class action law suit. Why would ANYONE exert the time and money to stand up for a bunch of idiots ?

Aloha Reni,

I haven't been removed from the board. I was removed from the VP seat. The board would have to do a recall on me if they wanted me off the board so they can't kick me off. It would take 6 board members to prompt a recall process where ballots would go out to my district. Only my constituents can remove me. I'm still hanging in there doing what I can for the membership. I truly appreciate the support. It's what keeps me going. Thx Reni.

We need a Nominating Committee to work for the membership's district election next year. PLEASE members sign up at the General Membership meeting on Sunday. The Oct Membership mtg is when this committee is formed, so it's this Sunday. We have to have a minimum of 5 members sign up. It's just for the duration of the pre election period. It's not difficult work at all and I sincerely hope we can get some members to volunteer...if you sign up, I'll sign up.

Please attend the membership meeting. Feel free to introduce yourself to me. If you have any questions or concerns or just want to say hi...
Aloha~
