School immunizations
Wow. I KNEW you would chime in with that! Excellent! You’re so predictable Paul. Now THATS petty

EW, you've stated before that you worked for the DOE. And yet you refuse to take flu shots. I sure hope you weren't in contact with any children or teachers, that would be the height of selfishness. You never gave a good reason for it, as far as I can see (sorry if I missed it).

As for the people being offended on behalf of Jews and Muslims, please stop.

No, I deleted immediately rather than edit. Sorry about that. Everyone, Paul was pointing out how petty I was. I should have said I knew I could count on you Paul to bring that up.

I’m sure he will post a link to that thread and I encourage those who are interested to read it ( though I can’t imagine you would want to)

Glinda, you calling TomK a "wannabe" is hilarious and shows you're the most Trumpish person here by far.
You regularly like to pretend you are a scientist on here and it doesn't usually work out too well.
You are an excellent photographer though.

Back to immunizations:

"CDC Study: Flu Vaccine Saved 40,000 Lives During 9 Year Period"
https://www.cdc.gov/flu/news/flu-vaccine...-lives.htm

From the article:
"Overall, the findings from the study continue to support the benefits of flu vaccination and suggest that both increased flu vaccination coverage and increased flu vaccine effectiveness would help to prevent more flu-associated deaths."

That is made more difficult by woefully uninformed people posting on social media and forums trying to undermine confidence in flu vaccination because of vague feelings of unease, spurious arguments about the ingredients and supernatural intuitions. Please give it a rest and let more lives be saved. You or your loved ones may even benefit from it yourself one day, who knows.

According to the article you posted, I am not in the group that benefitted the most from the flu vaccine. In the decade that I have lived in Puna, I have had a cold once. I personally don't consider myself high risk, and see no need to get the flu shot at this time. My oncologist has not pressured me about my decision.

So...where are all of these uninformed people mass posting on social media...pleading with people not to get the flu shot? Has the number of people getting the shot gone down? It is a choice...whether you agree it is the right choice for someone doesn't matter. Much like some of my neighbors didn't think I should have chemo, becase it is poison. They thought I should take my chances with soursop. I am not saying the flu shot is poison...just pointing out that it is a person's choice as to what treatment they want to have.

Wahine, I did not mean you. But there are some, see this same thread.
Everyone should do what they think is best for them, and those in close proximity.
So you’re not high risk? Great! Good luck with your recovery.

I've read through this entire thread...I see the same people butting heads and both sides have written some mean and/or childish things. Healthcare is a hot topic...ranking right up there with religion and politics. The fact that we have such limited medical resources on the BI just compounds the matter.

As I already stated, some consider me high risk due to being a survivor. However, I was lucky my cancer was caught early and my treatment was only for six months. I also returned to work two weeks after my last treatment. I am going to take a poll in my cancer groups to see how many get the flu shot...just out of curiosity.
