Mark;
Thanks for your "2 cents". It looks like you got it.
If some are going to draw a line in the sand and and debate the article I wrote, I want it known my feet are planted squarely on the side of safety.
ps I can overlook the name calling. I've been called a lot worse. Besides, I'm sure he meant it in a metaphorical way. You think? Hehehe.
pps I will not speak on this subject any further in this forum. The next time I speak on the issue of safety will be at the next monthly gathering. I suggest that as many of us that can show up, do so, to have a voice in the affairs of this club. If we snooze, we lose.
Have a happy day, and safe diving to you all,
Chili

Good, are we finally done with this silliness? Chili, you started the namecalling by insulting me personally in your first post and Andrew, thank you for defending me on a personal level. It may not have been meant tht way but it read that way to some of us.
There are a ton of misconceptions being represented here, however, HERE is not the place for the discussion. It belongs in a club meeting.
Safety is a club concern. The issues discussed here are either fictional or have already been addressed. Those who were there at the last meeting know that. We are not children but adults. Please let's speak to one another that way. Polite discussion goes so very much further.
Chili, if you have something to address with me directly, please do so off the forum.
If anyone else has ANY concerns, please feel free to email me directly and I will be happy to address your concerns to the best of my ability.
Again, let's take it off this forum. WE are Punatics, we live life and have fun in a simple fashion. So Lets Have Fun, Let's Get Wet and I look forward to seeing everyone at the next gathering on November 5. Aloha!

To all concerned, here is the definition of "FORUM":
A public meeting place for open discussion.
A public meeting place often including audience participation.
How dare "ANYONE" tell me what I may or may not write about in this forum.
The lead going into this forum is "DIVE HILO SCUBA CLUB". That seems to open up any discussion about that subject.
Now I'm being told where and when I can speak my mind.
SORRY....that doesn't cut it with me. If free speech were allowed to be silenced that easily, I would have to wonder what country I'm living in, and what the name of the Dictator is who is trying to shut me up.
If I write something that seems to offend someone in "THIS FORUM", then perhaps that someone should re-read some of the responses. Not all of them were negative. So, since we are all adults, and we want to talk in a nice manner with each other, "PLEASE" don't ever tell me when I can or cannot speak my mind.
Thats all!
Have a happy day and safe diving to you all

Whoa, I think everyone needs to step back and relax a little. Remember the purpose of the club, to enjoy the water and each other. Just like any group of friends, sometimes people will not see eye-to-eye or, especially in online communication where we lack the subtle nuances of face-to-face talking, not see when someone may be saying something sarcastically or in a joking tone. Everyone's has made valid points here, let's just put the focus back on having fun and enjoying the ocean and each other.
