HPP BIZ: Part the second
Kenney, I agree that the BOD which foisted the bond on us was neither realistic nor fully honest, especially after the fact when they claimed that they never promised to pave all the roads. I was told directly by the board member who wrote the ballot that full paving was the proposal as laid out. The election, however, was honest by the arcane standards of HPP. The ballots were counted by a respected outside organization and the required plurality was duly received. The problem was the low bar set by the bylaws for ratification at the time. Only about 20% of the property owners bothered to vote, but a large enough majority of those voted in favor for it to carry. IIRC, the $12M debt was approved by about 12-15% of the association members.

To add insult to injury, that same BOD embarked on a paving program which did not first pave the roads with the highest maintenance cost. I was in the room when two experts flown in by the bond company told the BOD quite clearly that not paving the roads costliest to maintain would be asking for disaster in the future. They ignored the advice. On a side note, only one of the BOD members at the time of the bond election is still living in HPP. The others have all sold out and left, several of them having gotten their roads paved before leaving.

It goes to pay the bond !

It's really too bad none of you understand what happened !

Just after the paperwork was all signed the price of oil skyrocketed and made it impossible to pave all of the roads.

It was no ones fault.

I was at the meeting when one of the board members became the bond broker without even changing his seat. Tried to stop it several times and got shouted down

Boy has it been beyond quiet. For the first time I have no clue what is going on. Perhaps nothing. last i read in a legal doc, L.K was petitioning to get the GM as our Master. I also thought there was suppose to be a hearing on the illegally fired employees so mnay years ago. HPP cant move anywhere.. sideways, backward, forward ubtil this strangle hold is put to bed permanently. No luck selling. What a glut of houses here. I feel fortunate that I am only there rarely now.Would love update from a real person who knows the facts.

Just wanted to add here they are currently paving 1st avenue between Paradise and Kaloli. They are about 1/3 of the way done and its asphalt (not oil and chip). They're using a very small paving machine compared to the ones I see on HWY 130. Did they purchase that equipment and doing it themselves or has it been farmed out to someone?

I think there is supposed to be a membership meeting the last Sunday in October. We were out so drove down Makuu and the gate was closed at the HPP property.

According to the lawsuit documents I read, the general manager's an eager participant in the lawsuit and then let's talk about his hostile takeover of HPP with his sidekick the plaintiff. Under these circumstances why would anyone think the general manager would generate anything neutral or accurate? Let's not forget he's also suing one of the directors and ironically, we're paying his salary.
I saw the former treasurer working on 1st Ave. I recognized another female director working there who had also quit. I attended a board meeting in April and the treasurer was pissed at the board for voting for the other contractor. I was taken aback at the blatant conflict of interest playing out. A director reminded her of her conflict of interest and she didn't care and kept going on with her rant. Whining works she got her boyfriend the job.
I don't see how Creeley can be a director when the case isn't settled yet. He resigned with the other directors who didn't give a shi# about HPP. As far as I'm concerned he doesn't deserve to be a director after the legal mess he's brought on HPP. Look hos much it's costing us in road fees. There's no way these five directors didn't know that mayhem would follow after they all resigned at one time no way. Shame on all of them. I'm pissed. Four months of this crap.

This is pointless. Everybody sues anybody these days for just about anything that upsets them. Many times it ultimately leads to bankruptcy....even if you win the lawsuit in the end. Lawyers are the only winners.

FYI...1st Avenue in HPP between Paradise and Kaloli is now paved (with asphalt). Beautiful job too. YES!!! It's now completely paved from Makuu to Kaloli.
