Yeah, the actual cases and deaths tolls might be right, but the we'll never see those confirmed numbers as Hawaii can only test 20 people a day currently (40 in an emergency).

"Other states can test even fewer. Hawaii can test fewer than 20 people a day, though it could double that number in an emergency, an official told us."

So Italy has locked down 16M people (like china) but this is after they have so many deaths and so many infections.
Knowing the track record of what this infection does to a country it seems that proactive instead of reactive response should be made. Just think of how many needless deaths could be spared if hawaii were to do the lockdown thing on the first sign of infection in an area.
And thats the problem, people would certainly complain that its just the flu.. nobody is going to die and its life as normal. Until its not normal. then everyone complains that enough was not done.

You cant please them all but you can try to save lives right?

Just to continue the Italy comparison, there is now triage directives being proposed that individuals over a certain age will not be allowed in ICU as they need to prioritize resources towards those with a better chance of survival.

"ROME - The situation surrounding coronavirus has become so extreme in Italy that an Italian association of anesthesia, analgesia, resuscitation and intensive care proposes to set an age limit for people to be admitted to intensive care. Moreover, people who are more likely to survive must be given priority."

But I'm sure we have plenty of healthcare resources for everyone here right?

Ironyak - "ROME..."

Wow. And our dear leader is playing golf. Our state is waving an open for business sign, and the Merrie Monarch will go on as planned. Sure..

Don't worry, it's worse in Hawaii.

"New Confirmed Cases" has slowed down in China for a while now.
The last few days, "New Confirmed Cases" numbers have begun to jump up again.
It looks like the rest of the world is just beginning to get a roll on.
Get ready.

China and Italy have 2 things in common, they get their fresh food from open markets and they are touchy feely with the food before they buy it. In Wuhan the raw unwrapped meat is handled and squeezed over and over until purchased. They have a way of deciding if the meat is tender if it bounces back or not when squeezed.

Something to avoid doing, lol.

Supply chain breakdowns are leaving LA shipping ports empty. Think about what you need from China that may still be in the store.

It looks like China and Italy may also have resorting to mass quarantine in common..

Italy Plans Large-Scale Lockdown in Country’s North to Fight Coronavirus

The Italian government is locking down 17 million people—more than a quarter of its population—including in Milan, the surrounding Lombardy region and 14 neighboring provinces, in the most sweeping steps any European country has prepared to take against the coronavirus epidemic...

Imagine the logistics.. the need to keep order. At least here, if it gets that drastic we have a natural border. I guess the big question is how does our transportation network, ships and planes, operate if the ports or airports fall within quarantine zones?

From a social order perspective, if our economy tanks, which it looks like is beginning to happen as hotels receive more and more cancelations, there is going to have to be some sort of restructuring of debt. Some temporary freeze offered to folks, like small business, that are effected. And a mountain of unemployment insurance. Otherwise what? The banks get a windfall as families default on their mortgages, businesses close all over the place?

Wow. So many off the wall thoughts..
