For a Punaweb retirees, from Medicare:
Remember: Medicare covers the lab tests for COVID-19 — you pay no out-of-pocket costs. And Medicare also covers all medically necessary hospitalizations.
For more information about Medicare and COVID-19, visit Medicare.gov.

I think Ironyak would be fun at parties too. We should hang out
But post
TEOTWAWKI, we can run things from bartertown.
I do understand though, Luck favors the prepared. Just so much information to digest, the fog of war applies as there is so much unknown and it changes daily just like a battlefield.

George Orwell isn't wrong
Actually scarily right, just a little early with the date. Add that to the quarantine prep (re)reading list.
we can run things from bartertown.
Sorry, no can. We already know
who run barter town.
Speaking of
Teotihuacan,
Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed by Jared Diamond (of
Guns, Germs, & Steel fame) is a good review of such past societal collapses and what factors and choices from then might apply to today's nations including the U.S. and China. Makes for a good read, even at parties!
Supposedly, everyone should now be able to get tested
likely(?) free of cost (with a doctor's approval). There's been lots of messaging put out that we should expect positive cases to rise quickly, not because they are new infections, but because we are now just identifying them.
Buckle your seatbelt!

"Do I sound like a doomsday prepper?"
Naw.... A real doomsday prepper knows that the economic and societal collapse will be far worse than anything the virus can do to us.

George Orwell's 1984 was trying to warn people not to be used as a blueprint.
Luckily not too many cameras here but when 5G gets rolled out there will be plenty of bandwidth to put one on every house and every corner.
Just indulging, nothing related to hawaii... Yet..

I've already been warned about my "conspiracy theories" so I won't contribute to getting any threads closed but any student of history already knows what happens when an economy stops functioning and you've already made some salient points in that regard.

As I've said earlier, the virus doesn't frighten me as much as having local Civil Defense start running things. I don't know if that will happen but if it does then we're in for a bad and very confusing time.

Anything specific of concern? Under the current State of Emergency, CD has a pretty broad range of powers to protect "public safety", a bitter taste of which we got during the 2018 lava flow.
One issue to consider is how "well" our Puna roads allow for a partial or complete quarantine. Most subdivisions, or sections of subdivisions, can be locked down by closing only a couple roads, and the whole district could be isolated with just a few check points. Papers, and temperature check, please!
China requires an app that tracks everywhere you go and assigns you a Green, Yellow, or Red code based on your exposure to infected places or people which would could result you being quarantined when it updates your rating. Techno surveillance state double plus good!

I'm going to bed - long day tomorrow after lots of COVID-19 related meetings plus doing my regular job. Anyway, my concern about CD becoming involved is that Magno will be in charge. And/or Harry Kim.
