COVID-19 confirmed in Hawaii: 607+ cases 16 deaths
Visitors are still increasing to the islands.

Too bad a travel ban is "impossible"...

as long as they can get a vacation rental for 14 days

Visitor quarantine should involve being escorted to a designated hotel by National Guard troops, not self-reporting an alleged location.

They need to do something about the hobos and junkies down by bay front like a herd of plague rats.

That should take care of itself in the coming weeks.

Visitors are still increasing to the islands. I guess as long as they can get a vacation rental for 14 days, and they still can go to the beach and still buy food at the grocery store to cook at home they will continue to come. Maybe just to get out of the cold.

I cannot believe that there's people who still want to keep their vacation plans and fly on an airplane during a time like this! How is that stupidity possible?

Most of them were residents returning home. This group is also the biggest importer of covid19 to the state.

National Guardsmen will assist with passenger screening at Hilo International Airport beginning tomorrow, Monday, April 6th:

Officials said guardsmen will be located at passenger arrival gates and security checkpoints. They will provide additional help to HDOT staff in taking temperatures of arriving flights as well as departing inter-island passengers.#8233;Guardsmen will not be armed, officials added.

Not that any of us are flying anywhere anytime soon.

I wonder how long before they help us figure out if we should be on the road at all? Seems a lot of folks are still having a hard time figuring that out for themselves.

IHME has updated their projections to take into account the initial effects of stay-at-home efforts in the U.S. Hawaii's peak now moved up to about mid April and greatly reduced in total resources required and likely deaths. Similar changes in projections seen for many other states.

Note, this prediction is based on maintaining stay-at-home efforts indefinitely. How to move out of a stay-at-home posture safely without triggering a new wave of infections is not known currently, although Italy and Spain and starting to consider how this might be done.

For now just gotta chill and keep saving lives.
