Good to see PW up and running - thanks Rob, and to all who were able to contribute.
Like several others mentioned, getting back on wasn't the smoothest process, but I assume a lot of problems were due to my technological ineptness. Getting better at tech had been one of my quarantine goals, but I soon abandoned that for re-reading old favorite books, fighting back some of the jungle, and just taking care of accumulated chores around the house. Many old timers in Puna moved here because we weren't all that social to begin with, so staying at home hasn't been as hard as it has been for some others, but I'm looking forward to hearing from others on this site.

Well glory be! Thank you Rob. I was able to reset my password but encountered a page full of porn links when I cllcked the portal icon at the top. Then tried posting a reply to Rob's welcome and managed to have it embedded in his post. Trying again. Looks like private messaging is back AND attachments! I'm so glad this forum is again online. I figure that Kalakoa and HOTPE will need a bit of time to catch up on the 150 posts each they are due but in the mean time I'll just enjoy the rants and be grateful this great resource is available. So much for Glinda's revenge...

In the old system I had it set up for me to approve any new registrations. This is kind of automatic but we will be looking to install a captcha system in the next couple days.
I did just learn how to "purge" spammers, which I have done to date. But I don't want to be continually dealing with spam.... so we will set something proactive in place.
Mahalo.

Welcome back PW and good job Rob and crew. The forum looks very nice. I don't come by much anymore but I'm glad PW is back.
Oh, and what have I been doing? Mainly pulling pepper trees (Christmas berry) with my truck. At least they don't really have tap roots. I hate those things. But for now it's back to work refurbing my very old JD walk behind mower drive wheels. Got too rusted for a tire bead to seal, rotted tires and too expensive to buy new wheels, and hard to find.

So glad that Punaweb is back! Like others have said, I missed checking in. I was in Sweden when PW went down, was wondering if I was having issues accessing it because I was overseas.
Spent 7 weeks on the east coast in several states working (Pennsylvania and North Carolina) with 5 days in Arizona hunkering down in between jobs since I knew then that I couldn't return home to Hawaii and still make it back to the mainland for work. After those 7 weeks I spent almost 2 weeks in Sweden working. Before being allowed into Sweden we were met by several customs officials who needed to see our essential worker paperwork. Did my 14 day quarantine when I returned home to the BI....not difficult considering we have 3.5 acres of property to maintain. I get to be home until early August. Keeping busy having my life back for awhile...weeding, gardening, planting, baking...so glad not to be living in hotels!!
Hope everyone is well.

Great to see everyone again. I've been going back and forth between here and San Diego, making sure to buy two weeks of groceries before I leave so I have something to eat when I get back here. It's nice to have the big garden to keep busy, and I've finally caught up on several larger projects that I never had enough time or energy to complete. We also got our pups tested for rabies antibodies so if we want to move them from the mainland to here, we can do that. Given the low population density out here, and the high temperature and humidity, this seems like a much better and safer place to ride out the Coronavirus than the mainland.

Glad to see old friend Punaweb back on its feet. Like others, I had to change my screen name due to dead email, so I am now ChunksterK.
I haven't been bothered too much by the lockdown, and I have actually enjoyed the quiet due to the absence of tour helicopters and commuter traffic in my area. Shopping is still a bit of a hassle, so we only go every other Monday. Earlier, when certain food items (mostly meat) were hard to find, I overheard Frau Chunkster and Little Chunkchen chatting auf Deutsch at the side fence:
Frau: "Welches der bösen Kinder des Nachbarn sollten wir zuerst töten und essen?"
Chunkchen: "Der lauteste."
Frau: "Aber natürlich."

Thanks Rob for all your work to continue Punaweb, it is a very valuable knowledge base with breaking local news and community talk story not available anywhere else. Very much appreciated!
Like so many people we’ve been concentrating on growing food. I’m currently building a greenhouse, a new larger chicken coop and a covered compost area. Trying to become more self sufficient especially after seeing the empty food shelves at the grocery stores.
Hope everyone is well and has avoided catching the virus.

Firstly, thank you, Rob, for persevering with the whole idea of PunaWeb and bringing the forum back from the dead. I join with everyone saying mahalo. Secondly, thank you to those who supported Rob in being able to keep PW's history intact. It was wonderful to see the community come together and also a show of support of all the work Rob has done to create a wonderful resource for the community. Thank you again, Rob.
As for the last few weeks, I'm so pleased to see so many people saying how well they are doing while also sticking to social distancing. Personally, it has been tough as I'm still mourning Pam; being without human contact or visiting her grave and family is taking its toll, but I'm dealing with it in the best way I can.
Observatory work on the mountain continues albeit with many restrictions and most of us still work from home. It also reminds me I have a lot of work to do to update the MK observatory discovery thread and will do that as soon as possible as I know there are people interested in that.
My best wishes to all of you and wish I could give everyone a hug!
