The Labor has begun on my House
#11
Chili, will your son have to be transferred? I know quite a few kids take the Hele-on bus from Puna into the Hilo schools (some probably have uncles, aunties & grand folks that live in town, as I have seen them for 2 school years, but I think that others were fininshing up the year last spring...). The closest stop for the early morning for you would be the Keaau stop, but the afternoon Kau bus goes up to town. There are at least 5-10 kids that get on the bus in the morning in Keaau, most dropped off. I do know that Connections has a bus that goes closer to your house. Congratulations on the progress. If you ever want to borrow Jims' point n shoot digital camera on your way up to the house to document the progress, without film expense, just stop on by (we are just down from the Puna Mission in downtown Keaau)(of course this is assuming he is working on/in the house....but you get the idea).
Aloha, Carey

Thanks Carey, the bus thing is new to me so I'm going to check it out. Sounds like a good alternative for him to be able to finish his third grade with his classmates. Come next year though, he will be going to Mountain View Elementary School. It's close to our new home and looks really nice.
Thanks to for the digital camera offer. I guess I just have a hard time breaking old habits. All of this new fangled electronic stuff comes out and I get a bit bewildered. To this day I still don't know what a " Bluetooth" is. I suppose I should break down and pick up a cheap digital camera and join the modern world. Thanks again,.........Chili

ps I'm going back up to the lot this morning to see if anything else has happened. If so, I still have that disposable to rip off some more pics. That way I can get it developed and posted.
Aloha, Chili

Just got back from viewing the lot. The septic tank has been back filled so I'm going to assume it passed inspection. Gotta' couple huge, I mean really huge pvc pipes sticking up out of the ground above the septic. Took some more photos with the disposible ( I'm trying to get through it as fast as possible to post some pics). Somebody removed all the rocks that were piled up and the slope of the lot appears to have been graded. It looks just great to me. I'll be able to putter all around the lot when we move in. Us one-legged criters got to be careful. Thats all for now, Aloha, Chili

I heard you passed the septic! Hold onto the paperwork Ron Nickels sends you back - it is important when you go to get your final...

Somebody hold me back. My engine is racing on all eight cylinders. Contractor called this morning and said they will be forming to pour the corner posts and cinder block for part of the foundation this afternoon if the weather holds. I'll go up to record it on video and that ancient disposible. This should take me down to zero on the camera, so I will develope and post them ASAP. This is gonna be fun.
Aloha all,,,,,,,,,,,Chili

Hi Cat,
The corner forms for the house are there but still waiting on the building inspector. I was hoping it would be poured this week. I'm picking up the pics tonight and should have something online by tomorrow. Last time I use Safeway to develope film.

I'm in a holding pattern. Safeway told me my film was still on the mainland being developed. 10 days is definitely too long and still waiting. The last time I will use their film processing service. Haven't heard from my contractor, but did take my son up to show him the progress on the lot. He thought it was awesome. He can't wait to start playing in his own yard. He also took notice of all the erected wooden forts for chidren in lots of yards in the sub-division. That got him excited about the possibility of plenty of new friends to play with. So, when I get the pics, I'll post um'.

Chili, just found this string. I fried the motherboard on my laptop so have more limited computer contact. Anyway, soulds like things are moving along. CONGRATULATIONS. It's a rollercoaster process but the result will be awesome. You will be sitting in your living room wondering why it took you so long to get there!

PS... I still have your chairs as you didn't show at the last event.
