By the time you go into test, you already have infected your family and everyone around you.

I agree, a test is not going to prevent the family you go home to every day from getting infected. It might help if you take one before packing into an airplane or entering a venue with hundreds or thousands of other people. But you know what helps more? Being vaccinated. Just saw a study that showed transmissibility reduced by 50% in the household and 88% overall.

Tax the unvaxxed. That'll fix the problem, or at least help pay for it.

Exactly. Then you can call them and explain that you might have exposed them to COVID. After all, they can just go get tested, right?

Sure, then we can send a bill to all vaccine recipients to recoup some of the 20 Billion spent by Operation Warp Speed.

AaronM, you don't think a vaccine to save lives in a global pandemic is worth 20 billion? In any case, that would work out to about $101 per vaccinated person, cheaper than an urgent care visit, several orders of magnitude cheaper than an extended ICU stay on a ventilator.

Do you really want to know just how dense some anti-vaxers are? We have some neighbors who refuse to be vaccinated because they "don't want to put that foreign substance in our bodies." Well, both of them smoke tobacco, a substance that kills millions world wide every year. When I pointed out the contradiction there during a phone call in which they invited us to dinner and I declined to go, I was told, "You know we can't quit. It's mean to mention that." Too bad.

"You know we can't quit. It's mean to mention that."

It’s also mean, and selfish to walk around as a living breathing petri dish, using your body as the medium that creates and spreads new more dangerous variants.  Which is what the unvaccinated do.

If the vaccination works, why is everyone so upset about the unvaccinated ?

98% of the hospitalizations and deaths are the unvaccinated.

It will all sort itself out. Kind of like the Darwin Theory.

Why?

Let’s see…

Have you heard of the variants that evolve as the virus runs through a population?

How about how the current, Delta, variant is transmittable by those already vaccinated? Who may not have symptoms, but still harbor the virus and exhale it just like the unvaccinated, and as such could bring it home to their families... their pets.

What about that little tidbit about how the Delta variant is way better at transmission, well over 100 times that of the original strain the vaccines were designed for? Did you hear that one?

Or maybe you heard that children are unprotected and need everyone’s participation to keep them safe?

Or how, as long as covid circulates, it is possible we'll breed a variant that will overcome the vaccines and we’ll all be screwed again?

Oh yeah, how about those that have breakthrough infections? You do understand that some amount of the vaccinated can still have full on Covid, be admitted to hospital, and die? No, you haven't heard that? Really?

Or, maybe, out of consideration for society, how we all could enjoy our lives again if everyone were vaccinated? You know, we could all go out to eat, do all the stuff we like, concerts! Dancing with wild abandon... Dude, think of the mask burning parties!

No? You haven’t heard any of that? Odd, I would have sworn it’s all been covered ad nauseam.
