The Labor has begun on my House
#31
I went back up to the lot Saturday hoping to see the construction crew going full bore, but that wasen't happening. They do have the corners poured and there is rebar sticking out of it all over the place. Took plenty more pics but still have a few left before dropping them off at Long's this time(learned my lesson with Safeway). Got to meet my neighbors on one side and was delighted to find they have a seven year old son (same age as my son). Talked with them for about 15 minutes and I'm so glad that they are gonna' be my next door neighbors. What nice people. Almost fell on my face while walking the property. Seems like the Ibezia trees have roots laying all over the place. Going to talk with my contractor and find out if the yard is going to be "smoothed out" just a little better before we move in. If not, I'm going to need a hard rake, a wheel barrow and some time to get it to the point where I won't be falling down in my own yard. Charlie got to run and climb up the huge pile of gravel they have on the lot. He can't wait to move in. Of course, all of us are looking forward to that day. I'll snap the remaining pics of my son and Lani and drop them off today. Hopefully, I can get them posted this week. Aloha everyone,
Chili

No problem, anything we can do to help.
That's what I love about this board.

Just drove by Chili's place... doesn't look like much else is happening yet. Still waiting for the cement to pour from what I can tell. Man, it is so frustrating to wait, wait wait... but it will eventually happen!

Just another day in P A R A D I S E !!

My son and I drove up and took a look yesterday late in the afternoon in the rain. The plumbing pipes are sticking up out of some gravel and dirt in the garage area. The outer walls of the concrete flooring for the garage are up. The center of that is filled with gravel. Looks like they are about ready to pour concrete. My contractor called Thursday morning and said they would be working full time from now on at our place. So if the weather is ok, they should be there 5 days a week. I forgot to take the camera up with me but will do it on Monday if weather permits. Then will have it developed and put on the web. Yes, the waiting is frustrating. But the time will come when all the waiting seems like no time at all. And thats when we will be in our new home. It's just a few months away now. We're very happy and excited to be able to have our own piece of this rock.

Thanks Cat, I hope you're right about the rain. The construction crew can do a lot while it's raining, but they can't pour concrete in it. This weather put a damper on lots of things this week. The lot was pretty much saturated with rain puddles yesterday. Going to make it a little harder on the crew when they go back up. But it will dry out and things will get back on an even keel. Till then, Aloha

Contractor called this morning and said the garage concrete was poured. Told me to get up there for some picture taking. I told him we were coming up in the morning to check it out and finish off the roll of film. Also received the papers from Nickels (the septic designer) Cat told me to hold onto for the final inspection. Contractor wants to let the concrete cure for at least 7 days but said they would be back up on the site Monday to start setting the post and pier cinders portion of the work. Things are going just great. I definitely will post new pictures by next week. Till then,
Aloha and HAPPY BUILDING TO ALL.....

Here are some pics of the garage concrete floor. It's a two car garage with a closing garage door and side door, three feet wide. It includes a washer/dryer area with a half bath. It's starting to take on a life of it's own. They should have started placing the concrete blocks for the post and pier portion of the project this morning. I wanted to be there but Christmas shopping had me tied up all day. Plan to go up tomorrow and take more pics, and ask if I can help in the construction of our house. Don't think I can do much but anything at all whoud be better than nothing at all. I just feel like getting involved with this thing. I feel it pulling at me. Do any of you know what I mean? It's like, I can't afford the gas to keep going up there but I can't stop myself from going. Very Strange.
Bear with me. Still having problems posting the pics. Should be on line by tomorrow.
Here they are. http://new.photos.yahoo.com/hilodivers/

I was drawn back to the property today, and what did I find? A bunch of Santas helpers putting the floor on my house. The footings were done, and topped with the floor joists. I stayed for an hour and by 10:45am they were done. They told me the walls would be going up today also. So I high-tailed it down to town and finished my Christmas shopping, and picked the crew up a case of cold ones to take back up for quitting time today. I picked up another disposable camera too. So I'll be snapping plenty more pics. "Happy Holidays"
