Is it really so bad to wish that crazy people would bang pots and pans at a government officials' place of residence? I really don't care if anyone knows I wish this.
I'm confused how this would offend someone, but w/e...
Back on topic I am guessing they will wait until Asia goes back to normal then do the same here. Whether or not the hospitalizations stay down.
I'd gander early next year sometime... I hope sooner, but yeah... This is not something that is just going to go away. Endemic Coronaviruses have already likely been a trigger of death among the elderly for some time now. Only hope is that less and less deadly strains take over.

"Char said she expects indoor mask requirements to continue for some time."
Meanwhile, literally no one that I know on the mainland living in a dozen different states, in various different regions have worn a mask since July... Jesus Fing Christ. I hope the anti-vaxxers find where Char lives and never let her get a wink of sleep.
As I pointed out to you earlier in this thread, I'm currently in one of those states. Hospitalizations and deaths have increased since people stopped wearing masks.
Oh, that's right, I'm "cherry picking". Feel free to mute me now...

Gov. David Ige has no plans to end the Safe Travels program ... he anticipates Safe Travels will remain in place for domestic flights “as long as there are those traveling who are not vaccinated.”
Which is to say, "permanently", unless the Feds mandate something better, or the next Governor decides to get rid of it.

Illinois has mask mandates for both vaxed and unvaxed, 99.7% survival rate, Louisiana same rules 99.6% survival rate. Insane states like FL 99.7% TX 99.7%. Both states economies are starting to recover from this mess.
California 99.8% vaxed not require masking. Even in New York with Cuomo sending all the old people off to their deaths in nursing homes averaged 99.7%
Hawaii, 99.9%, which is going to do nothing but bolster the forever plan.

Lol total turn around from what Green said just last week. There is no leadership here at all. This is just embarrassing.
At some point the someone will make a federal case regarding travel, US citizen etc.. and the courts will intervene I suspect.
You can't just force every single traveler across state lines to quarantine for 10 days in perpetuity. At some point it no longer becomes an emergency measure and just a hinderance to interstate commerce.
I'm also really surprised the state courts would allow this forever, but then again this is Hawaii... lol. If they cared at all about separation of the powers they wouldn't continue to allow these emergency orders forever.
Everyone is giving up this zero covid pipe dream except for... guess who? Char and Ige.

The virus will continue to circulate, but its presence will no longer be an emergency.
Hawaii’s dependence on tourism means the Safe Travels program that checks visitors for vaccination cards and Covid test results could remain important for years.

Thanks for posting, this is an interesting article. Average under 100 per day and/or under 50 hospitalizations for a couple weeks and they'll stop counting? That's encouraging.
"Back to normal"-Well, I wouldn't call it that while Safe Travels is still in effect. It should go away too, eventually. As in a few months, not years.
