Can Puna have clout? Friends of Puna's Future
#21
Thank for your interest. We welcome any and all who are interested in the future of our district. The overwhelming theme of the PCDP is to keep Puna a rural, agricultural district.

As for dontaions:

The Pahoa Holiday Parade is put on by Mainstreet Pahoa Assoc. which is a 501c6 . It is a nonprofit org but is not a charity. It is a business organization. Donations can be deducted as a business expense.

Parade donations should go to:

Mainstreet Pahoa Assoc.
P.O. Box 1189
Pahoa, HI 96778

Friends of Puna's Future (FoPF)is a 501c4 which is a community association. It is my understanding from reading up on the IRS stuff that donations would be deductable. Memberships are $100 per year and include access to another Punaweb Forum where FoPF issues are available for discussion. This forum is new and just getting started. Paid active members are also voting members on corporation polls and votes for Board of Directors. Some of our early funding will be going into development of an interactive web site for FoPF members.

Memberships or donations for FoPF go to:

Friends of Puna's Future
P.O. Box 644
Pahoa, HI 96778

Aloha and Mahalo

Rob,

Do you think that FPF might find some constructive role in the helicopter discussions? Liason, facilitator, mediator?

I think that the group formed to attend that issue is quite capable for representing thier interests. I would like to think that if no progress was being made that FoPF would be a "go to" group for additional support.

One would not have to live here to join though we would kind of expect members to own property here or have some type of vested interest in the district.

I just registered and when I do finally return, I can't wait to participate in Puna's Future.

On a number of separate topics Punaweb members have been talking about the need for improvements on a variety of issues. So I am bringing this topic forward again.

Friends of Puna's Future has been formed to organize and fund more aggressive efforts to address a range of subjects. If you are truly interested in Puna's future than I ask you to consider joining our group and supporting this effort. Many years of neglect by the county and state need to be addressed. Eighteen months of community effort on the Puna Community Development Plan (PCDP) will require support if the community goals are to be met.

To join in such this group, please do one of the following:

1. Send membership dues ($100/year) with your conact info to:

Friends of Puna's Future
P.O. box 644
Pahoa, HI 96778

Membership will include access to the private FoPF forum on Punaweb, voting rights on selection of BoD and officers, direct polling input on issues, full access to the FoPF web site (when it comes online).

2. respond to the following address:

Friends for Puna's Future <friendsofpuna1@mail.com>

Use the subject line: Yes, I'm Interested

Provide your:
name_____________________________
mailing address___________________________
telephone________________________

...and you will be added to the mailing list for invitation to upcoming meetings . If you know of Puna residents or property owners who might be interested, please pass this on to them.

3. Donations may be sent to the same address as #1. The are no salaries in the FoPF organization. We are rasing money to construct our web site and online orgaization and to fund lobbying and legal efforts. We need to be able to send lawyer(s) in to key meetings on county and state levels. We need to be able to research and finance legal effrots.

Until Puna can effective organize and represent it's interests we will continue to be last on every funding list.

And feel free to ask or discuss in this topic.

Assume the best and ask questions.
