This is typical of the difference between a 'signalized' intersection (with a stop light) and a roundabout intersection -- the roundabout does not back up traffic the way a signal light does:

"Since that light went in we have been seeing it backed all the way up to..."

Whoa!! If John's reference is close to correct, there are going to have to be some major changes in Puna in the next few years. It would be nice of the changes were planned for instead of letting nature take its course. Traffic, schools, services, cultural clashes, etc.
