Once again, American soldiers win the hearts...

....& minds of the community![:o)] This kinda stuff just sickens me beyond words. How the hell is this suppose to help the image of our men in uniforms abroad?
Just one more piece of evidence that our kids need to come home. The military is spread way to thin these days, but that is truly no excuse for animal abuse!

I once saw a dog hog tied to the roof of a car on Oahu, and the owner was driving around Kalihi with that poor animal on top scared for it's life. What makes humans wanna abuse poor animals?

Oh, just to save you the time. The video has been removed from youtube!

It may well be that the Marine or Marines in question committed some kind of unspeakable act of animal cruelty on video. If that's the case, after a thorough investigation, then he or they should be punished appropriately (I think animal cruelty is a felony in most states).

It's also possible that they "hoaxed" the Internet (and you, Beachboy, if you believe it's real) by staging the scene, cutting away, changing the "object" being thrown to something other than a live puppy, then cutting back to the throwing act. Photoshop and other video editing tools are pretty powerful nowadays.

There are lots of people who are convinced of aliens, Bigfoot, ghosts, and other fictions, based on video "evidence".

Before we jump to conclusions one way or another, shouldn't we allow the investigation to proceed? Are Marines not eligible for the presumption of innocence that applies to all other U.S. citizens? Or do we presume that these Marines are guilty somehow because they are Marines?

yes, you are right. But they are the only group of US citizens referred to as "jarheads", for acts just like this!

it's amazing bush can kill hundreds of thousands for oil yet show a marine killing a dog and the u.s. is outraged, (by the way i'm against animal cruelty also)

I know I don't. What's sad is that one a**hole makes the whole bunch of honorable, respectable and admirable soldiers look like jerks. Unfortunately, its all too common of a reaction -- and right now, its hitting the military with a few bad apples making the whole bunch look bad.

Remember when "going postal" had meaning? And it was something like 3 or 4 postal workers (out of a million or so nationwide), yet the whole group got painted with same brush.

Find out if this truly happened, find the jerk (regardless of occupation) and prosecute fully.

Snopes is classifying this as "Undetermined" at this time.

Why didn't this opinion arise against Pro
Football in the case of Mr Vick (or is dog fightng fair and square?)

Fortunately most of the troops who hear this type of tirade against them are sufficiently wise that they can laugh at it and consider the source of derision! But you don't forget it!

Jarhead is a reference to their haircuts!

Sheesh, you expect people to react the same toward vastly overpaid bone-crushers as they do toward underpaid, under-respected people who may be faced with giving their lives to save us every day?

You ask for a lot. [Wink]

I will offer no opinions on the current war (or any war for that matter) but I believe that those who serve in the military and do so with little fanfare or benefits (as unjust as that lack of benefits is) deserve better than to be lumped into the same category as sadists.
