Just an ebb and flow hijack, so bear with me.
I just ran across
this article on a Kauai blog about a petrolium alternative vehicle.

Cars that don't pollute as they go down the street (like the Indian one) seem like a good idea to me. If you must pollute then do it centrally and maybe it can be dealt with. But pollute it will, the energy to compress the air has to come from somewhere.
"Tank full of air equivalent to 2 litres of petrol" I wouldn't be planning on any long trips!

Yeah, the range seems kind of limited, but the idea of a filling station needing only a modern "screw" type compressor is appealing.

These proposed "air cars" are very interesting and I have been keeping an eye on them for a few years. The range is poor and simply would not make sense on the mainland. But on an island...................?
The MDi business model was designed to provide for regional manufacturing with facilities producing as few as 2,000 vehicles a year.
Might this mean it could actually be possible to envision a Puna Auto Industry some day?
Food for thought.

I talked to my friend today about the hydrogen thing and he reports the whole affair turned out to be a disaster. The equipment has not been preforming well, the sellers have disappeared and so has the money. He wants the equipment removed from his car. Another person he knows suffered engine damage.
So the hopeful intentions have been crushed by reality.
All those doubters were on the money...

We got our EV up and running. You will soon see a lite green (very lite)97 mazda 2wd pickup on the road running on nothing but solar energy. It passed inspection, now its at the painters and will be back soon. Infact if anyone knows of some stock mazda 14" pickup wheels please email me! The wheels it has are as ugly as sin, and too big therefore cutting the performance and causing the motor to heat up.

WOW!
I have only looked at (the 4 pp) of this post today -- the less I try to know or do about how my car runs, the better it runs
Lex Brodie in Pahoa takes good care of it.
What a saga!
