700 Billion Dollar Bail Out Plan Does Anyone Care?
Kapohocat,

I think you summed it all up perfectly. My grandmother always told me the same thing your wise mom did!

It is time to put out the fire and move forward at damage control. We all have to help make this world a better place and that starts at the local level and follows through to the polling place. [Big Grin]

Interesting thread.. Dick's as busy a one legged man at an ass kicking contest [:0]. Honestly, this is not the first time this has happend to our country nor will it be the last. "Those who don't study and pay attention to History run the risk of repeating it".. and here we are... nearing another depression. This is not un like the first depression. Democracy is the only thing that is supposed to keep capitalism in check. Democracy has been baught and paid for by big business. As opposed to 700 billion to the crooks on wall street why not 700 billion to the upgrading of our infrastructure? Think about it, Roads, bridges, ports, harbours, levees that work bridges that don't fall down etc etc.. This would not only stimualte the economy but also get a lot of things that need to be fixed..fixed. Unfortunatly we've become a fast-food world. We expect results RIGHT NOW, but this mess din't happen in the last two years like some repubs are crying it took us a while to get things this screwed up and it will not soon be fixed thats for sure.. Remember that guy named Rosevelt and how he helped us get out of the first depression?? Well do ya?

To answer my own question.. because this Country is so corrupted by pork spending that it takes 2 million dollars to get 500K in services through the Gvt..

Dave; don't know what I'm busy at, except trying to keep my head above water and get moved before I have to pay someone to take this house off my hands. Thankfully we moved our 401K to interest income about 4 months ago, otherwise I guess I'd be out in the street with my infamous rope looking for politicians. I think we are headed for a depression and I just hope something works, although I don't hold out much hope. Its going to take community efforts pulling together to weather this. neighbors helping neighbors and bartering for needed goods and services. I don't think either of the idiots currently engaging in constructive name calling and finger pointing have a clue.

Yes, folks, we are heading for a depression worst than you ever know. If you have stocks, mutual funds or any other investment, start selling now, sell and get out, don't worry about the facts, sell, Sell, SELL!
[:0][Sad]

Actually, now is the time to start picking up all these undervalued companies at fire sale prices. If you look at companies who lost value, half have nothing to do with any financial or other problem; their value was reduced because panicking consumers are selling their investments. Oh how I love it when consumers panic and start selling off their stocks, gives the rest of us an opportunity to buy low and sell high or more bluntly to be poise for massive gains when the panic dies down and reverses itself to normality. Your loss is our gain![Big Grin][Big Grin][Big Grin]

If I wasn't ready to retire, I might follow your advice. Not having the time to wait for appreciation, I'm delighted to be making slow but steady gains on the interest income side of the market. I feel for anyone who is about to retire and didn't get out in time.

Some think that our industry output as it pertained to a little conflict called WWII had something to do with mitigating the great depression.

There are all sorts of forms the use of force can take, both foreign and domestic, and doubtless an economic justification could be touted for increased military spending on an industrial complex so interwoven with the military, even in Hawaii.

Question is, what do we have on the far side to show for our investment when the money is spent in such ways?

"Double-plus good, all this!"

Hmmm....
