HPP under attack!!!!
Barbara, are you sure ATVs are not allowed on HPPOA roads? The HPPOA owns one and uses it frequently on the roads. Maybe you should consider that some ATVs are used by farmers etc... for work purposes. I'm not offened by responsible ATV operators. Now when it is an underage rider on a sport bike or quad that is made for racing, I would start asking questions.

The market place of ideas, guys....

all ideas are good until a better one comes along.

what works for some might not work for others.

and you should not hate just because you don't agree.

by the way illegal use of a firearm should never be done... and gun slinging is illegal. even in Texas.

So Rob, You wouldn't want me or Oink, Jon, Dick, Big Isle,Rusty to be your neighbors?

I can assure you that crime would not be even an issue if we all on the same street. I would also say that no one would be shot. The thing about human nature is that folks tend to behave their most base when there are no consequences. If we lived in a world where thieves can take what ever they want willy nilly with no consequences you will foster the belief that it is exceptable and it will continue. Behavior is modified only by consequences.

The more immediate consequences are meted out and the more costly the consequences, the better the results.

Might for right! I say.

You and your ilk can fantasize about a utopian society where we all just get along but at the end of the day it is crap, without real world proactive measures.

And know this, Hitler was a huge anti-gun nut as all tyrants are.

This thread isn't or shouldn't be about guns or Texas or guns in Texas or why Texas is better thanks to guns or why Hawaii will be even better thanks to guns. People who you think are anti-gun are actually anti-violence. I know you think that guns reduce violence but that is not true. America has more gun deaths than almost any country. If you really love guns, go to Brazil. Lots of guns and lots of gun deaths in Brazil. I completely support the 2nd Amendment, I love Texas (where my mother and her mother and her mother's mother were born), but the point is that in America guns don't reduce violence or burglaries. This is thread is about an actual problem that will not be solved when you come over with your gun, leave and go to Kona for the day, and come home to find your refrigerator gone.

Self protection and being able to protect ones family and possessions seems to have gone to the liberal wayside. The consensus here as I see it by the “let’s talk it over” and let the police take care of the problem advocates. Turn in your protection [guns] and trust that everything will be OK. Well, I have lived this long without fear because I am “armed and dangerous”. My family knows that I will be there to protect them no matter what. Being 65 years old [old geezer] my family depend on me to provide them with protection from the low life that pry on older folks. My guns and my knowledge of how to use them gives me and them [my family] piece of mind and lets them sleep without worry.

If I were to listen to people like Rob and a few others that think that a warm word or two would keep a criminal at bay, I would be the fool. You, lets hold hands and all be friendly people have lived a very sheltered life or you just don’t get it. What part of the newspaper do you people read, is just Dear Abby and the comic section? Crap happens every day that is very violent by youth and hard criminals alike. Now you do-gooder’s want us old people to turn in the only positive protection that we have,[our guns].

My legs don’t work as well as they used to but my brain and my trigger finger is just as fast as it was when I was in my youth. Age has taken away my agility to run like a rabbit, I except that, that’s life. When you tell me that it’s wrong to have a weapon [gun] and use it to protect me and my family, and the possessions that I have spent a lifetime to acquire you are undermining this nation and what it stands for.

Warm and fuzzy just don’t cut it with people like me that have lived the real life.

Get a gun, and learn how to use it.

Damon,

Dose someone have to shot a buglar or intruder to know that they have been sucessful in deturing a criminal?

My question to you is how many people have not been burgarlized or intruded upon because it is a known fact that their house is armed?
Silly answer to a silly question

Better get ready for one of the biggest robberies in the history of the late great US of A and even if you are well armed with guns it will not matter. CHANGE is in the wings just chomping at the bit with their law writing robbers. This you can not protect yourself from, even with guns, at least not for the next four years.

On North shore Oahu 3 years ago, farmers were giving up their places because of thefts. One older farmer responds to noise outside, and investigates with a shotgun. Runs into a low life with an armload of tools, tells him to halt, the thief responds with a machete, farmer shoots him dead. He was an icehead with a long history of crimes. State tries to prosecute farmer, so much citizen support for farmer, trial put off until finally he (farmer) was cleared as justifiable homicide.

Thefts stopped for some reason and ag is doing good again! True fact!
